Tranquil Riverfront Gem

This property located on the Capitola river offers guests two vacation experiences in one. The river view is beautiful, peaceful and best enjoyed relaxing on the deck. The house is charming and comfortable making this a complete vacation all by itself. The beach/Village is a very short walk, and offers a lively, energetic experience with shops, restaurants, warm sand, and clean ocean air. Life is good in Capitola!

Paradise on the river

This was our second stay at this cozy river bungalow, and it was paradise once again! We love that it is dog friendly and has plenty of parking, and cannot wait to return!

Great Location

We planned a stay on our winter break. It rained most of the time but the house was cozy for us to stay in and convinient to restaurants and cafe's nearby. Would love to stay again in the summer to take advantage of the deck and watercraft.

Great place and location

Awesome place, short walk to downtown and beach. Place remodeled with all amenities needed,, very clean and good memories were had. We wanted to stay longer but it was already booked up. We will definitely go back.

Wonderful stay

This was the first time staying in vacation rental in capitola and it was an amazing experience! Definitely way better than staying in a hotel! The location is amazing and very tranquil will the creek in back of the house! Short 2 min walk to all the amenities of downtown! Perfect size for my family of 5!

A Fabulous Property!

I have had good VRBO stays before, but this one was the smoothest and most gorgeous one yet! Even before our visit, when there were technical glitches with getting electronic payment credited to the host, he was communicative, responsive, and accommodating. Once booked, Steve provided clear instructions about everything from entry into the property to expectations for check out. The unit itself is in walking distance from the shore and the view of the river from the back deck was spectacular. Our puppies also loved the foot traffic along the promenade at the rear of the property and made new friends ;) We would love to stay there again sometime.

Fantastic Stay!

We had a wonderful stay in Capitola at this great property! The location was beautiful and just a few minutes walking distance to the beach and town. The property was clean and comfortable for our family of four and small dog. We enjoyed cooking breakfast each morning and found the kitchen to be well stocked with what we needed. We hope to return someday!

We had a great time in Capitola and this house has a great location. It has a beautiful deck overlooking the river and is a short walk to the downtown and beach. It has ample parking for 2 cars so you don't have to drive into town and deal with parking. Perfect!!

Really is a slice of heaven

This was our second time staying at this house. The location is absolutely perfect. Close enough to walk to downtown Capitola and the beach, but far enough away to feel peaceful. The house was clean and the bed was comfortable, and it comes with a space for parking. We will definitely be staying here again!

A beautiful getaway

We had a wonderful stay at this property. The house was very cozy especially with the gas fireplace. Having a river right outside was quite the bonus. Peaceful and extremely quiet. The kitchen was fully stocked although we never cooked. On vacation! : ) I would gladly stay here again and would recommend it to our friends.

Creekside idyll

It doesn't get any better in Capitola than being right on the creek, a two-minute walk from the beach, and a quick paddle from Shadowbrook. The house is perfectly equipped with everything you need, including a great kitchen and deck grill. The area was very quiet at night. Highly recommended!

A true gem

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Located right on the river and equipped with a canoe and kayaks, this property is a quick walk into town and the beach. Also a very short drive to Santa Cruz. Fully equipped and as pictured. We especially enjoyed lounging on the back deck where we had multiple meals. The vegetation along the river path to town is extraordinary. Thanks Steve for a perfect getaway experience!

Hidden Gem!

I hesitate to write this review because I want to keep this place a secret so I can come back. This place was everything I had hoped for and more! We had perfect weather, foggy in the morning and we turned on the fireplace then sunny all afternoon so we could kayak on the beautiful creek. The birds and ducks were our entertainment and joy. We went to Shadowbrook twice it was so good. Thank you for sharing your secret paradise with us, we will be back!

Great Getaway

This place was perfect for our family of 3 including the dog. The location was just a short walk to the Esplanade which was very convenient. The place was well stocked, clean and the backyard deck was was my favorite part. Very relaxing. The only issue was one of the beds. My husband had to end up using the murphy bed. I read that the host is addressing this issue this month!

Great Location!

Overall, this was an incredible location! Home was convenient to downtown Capitola as well other areas to get food or run to the market. The owner was very accessible for questions. Inside the home was really nice. Our only complaint was the floor was a bit dirty which we noticed when looked at the bottom of our white socks-I am sure the owner will follow up with his cleaning service. Everything else was very clean and we were so thankful to find such a great place that welcomed pets. Neighborhood was a nice area to walk around and having the porch off the Soquel river was a really nice treat! If we go to Capitola again, we would come back here for sure!

Friend’s Respite

This wasn’t a slice of heaven. Two girlfriends and I were looking forward to a relaxing respite, away from family responsibilities, for a few days. We were disappointed with this rental. The good - nice location and includes two parking spaces. The not so good - kitchen poorly equipped. Bring your own equipment if you like to cook. Ants made it impossible to leave food on kitchen counters.Couches and bar stools not comfortable. In fact, barstools were super light weight and flimsy. Didn’t feel safe. Water filter in fridge needed replacing. We were told fridge had a water filter so was surprised and disappointed when discovered it was expired. Combinations to padlocks on gates needed to be documented somewhere. Never did get combination to lock on gate next to river deck. Back door lock needed to be fixed. Had to exit through front door and access creek walking path through neighbors yard IF you wanted the back door locked while gone. Luckily, no one was staying there at the time. Cobwebs on outdoor furniture needed to be removed. Overall, would give the place a C grade. Won’t be back anytime soon.

It Is All About The River!

The most unique thing about this property is the main deck with a view of the beautiful wide Soquel Creek. A pleasure to watch birds landing and taking off from the water. Also unique were all of the people on the river walk that we greeted or talked with while relaxing on the deck. In regards to the place inside - it was clean with an attractive and functional kitchen, bathroom and living room. Unfortunately, the main bed was very uncomfortable and the second bed too large for the room. Weeds need to be pulled around the deck and the deck completed. Most importantly, because of all the foot traffic on the river walk, the stone pathway needs to be completed for safety reasons. Thank you for this experience.
