Fake Hotel

There was no one at the hotel, it was in darkness and the contact numbers provided did not exist! I would very much like to be contacted at 0716712625. I had to seek other accommodation, very disappointed.

What a #@&*£# !!

Did a business trip this week in KZN and made an online booking that was confirmed and went off my credit card. On my arrival at the hotel it was closed down for renovations. Nice guys! You don't get more professional than this....a real pleasure doing business!!

What a SERIOUS disappointment

What a SERIOUS disappointment. The hotel has an interesting history and the apartment suites were really well appointed, spacious, comfortable and quite lovely. The service by the staff was apathetic, sorely lacking and they were totally uninterested in the clientele. This was a business trip. We were told breakfast was at 06h30. Our crew required breakfast at 06h30. The staff were not on duty and we waited every day of our 4 day stay for over 20 minutes for somebody to take our breakfast orders. And then another 30 minutes for breakfast to arrive. I was told there was no more milk for our morning tea, when we were the first 3 people to arrive for breakfast. It boggles the mind what the rest of the patrons would be offered for their breakfast cereal, tea and coffee. They selectively chose who would be offered muffins and flapjacks. When I inquired I was told flatly I did not ask - yet it was never offered on their handwritten menu on a serviette. When we told them this service was unacceptable, we returned after work that evening, to find all our rooms entry cards had been disabled preventing us entry into our rooms and then they had the audacity to lie about it. And to boot the general public toilets next to the dining room / reception area were disgustingly dirty - it looked as if they had not been cleaned for absolutely weeks - and there was no toilet paper or paper towels. When I complained nothing was ever done about it. Totally unacceptable!. NEVER go again!!

Nice and luxurious but old and in need of TLC

The hotel is nice with some luxurious features and furniture in the foyer albeit it is old and now needs some TLC all around. One can however tell that back in the day, it used to be the hotel and a go to place. It seems that over time, it kind of got neglected from regular maintenance albeit the traces of brilliance are still there. I would nonetheless still recommend it for anyone who wants to book a stay in the CBD. The reception staff were very hospitable and I was very impressed with one particular receptionist, namely Tafadzwa who went the extra mile to make us feel welcomed and comfortable

South Africa 2019

Grand old building in the town centre. Car parking was available at the rear of the hotel. We had a suite which gave us a lounge area as well as a bedroom which was pleasing. The room also had a balcony overlooking the front street. Breakfast was ok with a good freshly made omelette. Overall a slightly tired hotel which needs a little TLC to become great again.

Good one night stopover.

This is a large 1900's hotel in the centre of town opposite the city police station. Good secure free car parking to the rear. Locally it is very quiet and so, we ate in the restaurant which is buffet style, cost 195 Rand each. Choice was quite good. The breakfast is in the same area. Good for a one night stop over. There is a bar with sports to channels.

The service was so-so and the room was extremely dirty. This was a business trip and as a business, we have stayed at this hotel previously but will not be returning.

Short but worthwhile

Though our stay was short, from arrival to departure everything was lovely. Friendly and helpful staff add to the pleasure and comfort the place offers to its patrons. I would definitely recommend it and consider it on my next visit to PMB.

Old fashioned grandeur

All we needed was a shower and a bed. Hotel delivered this. Burger from room service after long long day for Comrades marathon really hit the spot! There was an issue with bill from Reception which forced us to return to the hotel to sort out, which was quite frustrating.

need improvement

had a good stay but there was a irritating noise from the hand basin after use or the neighbours upstairs have used their basin. The carpet has a particular smell even when cleaned. Somebody trying to open the door at 3am. Tea making not enough for two people. Rates too expensive for what you get (only taken out of desperation). Other than the disturbing next door neighbours it is fairly quite. Build a wall between the "police yard" for privacy of ground floor rooms.
