"The decision to stop in St.Albans was initially because it was a convenient stopover place for London, due to the easy commute into the city. However, as soon as we arrived and saw the cathedral ACROSS the road we knew that one of our days would be better spent experiencing this beautiful and historically rich place. We even arrived on a festival day! Lots of walking meant that sleeping in a comfortable bed was a priority and the hotel scored highly on this! Breakfast was varied and set us up...

The room I chose had no windows - I thought that would mean it is a good dark room (apart from the usual small coloured light to indicate the exit). But there was a large light in the ceiling that faded lighter and lighter in the morning. Unlike light from outside windows, it didn’t have an option to close a curtain on it. "Amazing hotel, we were there for a wedding and it was spectacular Only gripe I had was my room was extremely hot even with the Dyson fan on and windows open and was incredibly uncomfortable getting ready so avoid room 116 in summer times ! "
