Overall okay.
Overall okay. Only thing is the master bedroom aircon which takes awhile to fix. Owner very responsive and provided welcome drinks when arrived. The area is good and quite close to shops. Good to have a car though.

We stayed at an alternate property because the advertised one wasn’t ready. However, the owner notified us well in advance. The condo was quiet and the air conditioning worked. Sandakan is a gateway to other places like the Kinabatangan River and wildlife viewing. That was why I chose it for my stay but I didn’t really explore Sandakan itself.

Sandakan should really just be seen as a stop over place. You don’t need a “free day” as there’s nothing to explore. One day to see orangutans, sunbears, and proboscis monkeys is more than sufficient.
