"This place is a special stop to add to your trip. The owner is the sweetest person I have met and she will take good care of you. This is not in town so you must contact the owner for a pickup. If you are doing a border crossing have your snacks money etc before staying. But to stay here and enjoy the owners homecooked meals, the quiet of the rice fields and the comforts of these little cabanas is a nice refreshing experience. As a solo traveler this gave me a little piece of "mama" energy...

"Amazing property! Located right on the Mekong River with a river view, the location could not be beat! It was obvious the hotel was barely booked (low season) and we asked for an upgrade, room with a river view. Ours looked out on another cottage and they said yes for an extra charge. They could have easily given us another room as they were so under booked and it would have been a nice gesture. Anyway we said no thank you as it was only one night. "We were booked in and prepaid, but when we arrived we were told to “wait”. I mentioned we had a reservation. We waited 15 minutes or so, until a man arrived in his truck. Without even asking our names or looking at our reservation, we were told to get in the truck and be taken to another hotel. No room at Baanfai was there only explanation! We stayed at a very plain hotel a few minutes away. Thankfully the man driving and the ladies who served us breakfast were kind and helpful. Unfortunately,...
