"The Hotel des Arts offers excellent value for money in a very affordable, no-frills package. The hotel is in a rather beautiful old building in the heart of Montpellier, close to the station, the Comedie area and dozens of narrow streets containing many bars, shops, restaurants and cafes. "Very basic accommodation but perfect for us for one night. Close supermarket, parking, restaurants across the road from the beach. Nice little balcony. We didn’t have the breakfast but it looked great on the terrace. "

"I really loved being so close to the beach.. However I didn’t realize how far away it was from any shops or restaurants or entertainment… only 1 restaurant open within walking distance… and a LONG way from Montpellier… it was my error it not paying more attention to this fact. The property was wonderful & my room superb, with a perfect view of the ocean. Great time for a romantic getaway, not quite as much fun for a single traveller."

"One of the rooms I rented was not up to the standard represented on the hotel website. The room was dark & extremely small. The hotel did move us to another room for the next night & all was well. "

"No elevator, doors making noise all time, code often does not work and lock you outside, some troublesome people living here and purposely making noise with doors every a few minutes, property has very bad attitudes and never responded to messages."

"Maani, the owner/receptionist, was a very nice and helpful person. He greeted us very warmly late at night and gave us a big bottle of water for free. He also came to street to make sure we parked at the right place. The city is an old peaceful and beautiful city. Across the hotel there is a beautiful bakery. If you need a cheap and yet clean place to stay I would recommend this place."

"This would have been a 5-star review except for one thing. Their internet is awful. To say it's spotty would be a complement. When it does connect, it frequently drops in and out requiring near constant sign-ins. This is not good for travelers who rely on the web for travel info. It forces you to choose roaming on your phone which can be very expensive. Nice room, great location and restaurant. Too bad about the internet issues."

"Brilliant traditional French hotel: slightly scruffy but clean and with WIFI and air-conditioning all working well. It's easy to walk from the tram stop (though the sign is now a bit dark and not light blue like the picture!). If you want something authentically French and cheap then this is a really great place to stay. Clean and comfortable."
