When our driver couldn't make it to the Casa to take us to Santa Marta airport for our flight to Bogota, Marisela took us both in our car and drove the hour and 15 minutes to drop us off at the airport. Even though we don't speak much Spanish at all, her entire staff took the effort to communicate with us in English throughout our stay. <The sands felt endless and there was almost no other soul in sight… until we reached the 'lake', actually part of a river sharing a stretch of land with the sea. So cool and inviting that I jumped straight in. I didn’t even care about putting sunscreen on [a thing I’d start regretting that same evening, because one shouldn’t underestimate Colombian sun]. When a kayak was ‘delivered’ to me by the man renting it, I didn’t care about surfing anymore. "The staff was great... they were super friendly, welcoming, and helpful with organizing transportation, reservations, etc. The room itself was pretty standard but the view from the 2nd floor was amazing and the deck was great for enjoying an evening beer. And they cleaned the room very well each day, it was spotless even after tracking in sand and dirt. The beach was incredible and we enjoyed the lounge beds. Would definitely stay again!"
