"Backyard Balangoda provides a great Sri Lankan experience, complete with a very friendly dog named Bruno! The incredibly kind owner made sure we had a wonderful stay, sharing interesting information about local life and tasty food. Breakfast, made with local ingredients, was wonderful, especially the tea from his garden and his own roasted coffee. "The manager, Nandu, was really helpful in setting up morning safari for us on short notice after our previous accommodation fell through. The breakfast and dinner were hearty and super affordable. It’s not exactly 5 or even 3 star accommodation (AC leaked onto the bed and the bathroom had some flies), but for value for the money it’s a good pick. We saw tons of elephants on safari."
