"We chose this hotel because it was an hour from Santander and just off our main route from Portugal to the ferry port for the UK. Lovely town with impressive old centre and lovely riverside walks. Lively market the day we arrived (Tuesday). Be aware that self-parking is actually free on-street parking but area seems very secure so we left most of our extensive contents in car and had no problem. Also,hotel restaurant non-functioning so sought dinner in town and nowhere open until 9pm. But...

As with many Paradors, the rooms were spacious and comfortable, the bathrooms well equipped although dated. Nice decor in the reception area. Car park was reasonable size. Good choices for breakfast. "We were lucky enough to happen across this gem when searching for a quiet location close to Santander that would accommodate us and our two small dogs in a hurry. We were taken aback by the extent of kindness and curtesy extended to us by Ivan and warmed by a welcome that was genuine.
