Els linyolencs van anar a buscar-hi l'aigua fins l'any 1898. Any en que es van inaugurar les fonts de davant de l'ajuntament. Aleshores la font vella fou habilitada com a rentador públic. Posteriorment, va caure en desús i fou colgada. Es va recuperar aquest patrimoni a finals dels anys 90.
