Die Lostauer Alte Elbe im Biosphärenreservat Mittelelbe ist im Frühjahr 2017 temporär zu einem Schwanensee geworden. Unwillkührlich kommt einem da das berühmte Balett Tschaikowskis in den Sinn. Jedoch nicht die elfengleichen Wesen des Komponisten bestimmen die Szene, sondern an die hundert - mitunter noch mehr - nicht zur Brut schreitende Höckerschwäne (Cygnus olor) setzen hier Akzente. Sie nutzen den Altarm des Flusses als Nahrungsquelle und Ruhezone.
