"Absolutely lovely. Owned and operated by a local family. The staff is very kind and helpful. The views of wildlife are exceptional. We were very comfortable. We didn’t want to leave! Note that the road to the hotel is not paved. The local drivers are used to it. If arriving from Quito, get out at the Mindo town square and take a taxi $4-5 to the hotel. People there seem honest and hardworking. "

"Important: This hotel is now called the Tagara. It is tough to find things in Ecuador and having the wrong name on the signs does not help. This locale is beautiful, the pool gorgeous, and the staff, especially the general manager, Bernard, are wonderful. But this is more of a corporate retreat in style. However, a great escape from Quito or a great place to spend a night when making the drive from the coast to Quito. For Westerners I think the nightly stay with included meals is a fair price....

"This beautiful place is right in town (across from the bus station) on a quiet street and easy walk to main street and all its offerings. We stayed in the apartment style room, very clean, spacious and everything for stay in cooking or just making coffee and sitting on the little patio. Ronny the owner took great care of us, cooked a yummy breakfast with a choice to have delivered to your room or on the upstairs patio. Did all our laundry for a great price. "Ignacio was so warm and welcoming!! He made our trip easy and relaxed. One of the best things he did was to arrange our looked forward to was a birdwatching experience. Our guide was the first female guide in Ecuador. She was excellent giving us so much time and her expertise in identifying a vast array of birds. Carmen’s cooking and homemade breads was exceptional.
