"Hotel In Pietra is a fantastic choice for visiting Matera. The entrance/lobby could not be more grandiose - it used to be the XIII century church of San Giovanni. I used room 1004, large, tastefully furnished, comfortable, and with probably the best balcony view over the old city. The staff is friendly and most helpful. I will certainly return."

Yes, it is about a15 minute walk from the parking garage to the hotel but you have to walk everywhere in Matera anyway, and once you make a turn close to the hotel and see the city for the first time ,...
