"What a great hotel. The staff were really friendly and the public areas and the rooms decorated to a very high standard. My wife used the spa and had a massage which she really enjoyed. Personally I think the outside of the hotel could do with an update but that in no way detracts from what is delivered inside. "

"Good location. Room was small but perfectly adequate and with nice bathroom. Lake view was not great - large flat room in front of us. Nice gardens on the edge of the lake. The Waterhead Inn next door had a great team working there, more friendly. We ate there and that was very good. Easy to walk into Ambleside, no need to drive which is a huge bonus. Lovely countryside and walks."

"Lovely garden at the rear, rooms a good size and everywhere clean. Staff very friendly and the food was great and a good selection. Dog friendly and no issues. Will definitely be going back. Also 5 min stroll into Grassmere village so a perfect location. "

"Great location in the heart of Grasmere. Easy parking. Good breakfast. Lovely new bathroom. The room itself and the restaurant and reception areas could do with a bit of an update which would make it fabulous. Maybe removing some carpets and having wooden floors would help. "

"The check in was simple, with clear instructions provided in the room. Access to good quality WiFi was again simple. I ate in the pub for breakfast and dinner, it was easy to put my dinner bill and associated drinks on my bill. All the staff were friendly and relaxed, despite being a busy bank holiday weekend, which is a credit to them. All the food was fantastic, served hot and without too much of a wait. The staff were on it and keen to give you a good stay. I would definitely stay again! "

"Brathay Lodge makes for a very comfortable and convenient stay in the Lake District. The room was modern and well-maintained and the staff friendly and considerate. There is a parking fee (unless booked direct) but you’d have to pay elsewhere anyway. If you have an electric car it’s a good idea to let them know in advance so you can use their reasonably-priced ProjectEV charger. The continental breakfast was fresh and varied and set us up for the day. Would definitely stay there again. "

"Location is great. Staff are very helpful, breakfast is excellent and lots of choice. We had a superior room at the Windermere Rooms. I expected a better view/facilities for the cost, rooms were very warm but could be easily fixed by turning the radiators down. Floor in the bedroom was slightly uneven which didn’t affect the stay but something I didn’t expect for the price of the room. I would definitely stay again but probably wouldn’t pay for a superior room."

"The property, staff, room and amenities were wonderful. We loved being able to walk uptown and even catch a trail behind the lake house. Breakfast looking out on the lake was great. The food was pretty good as well. "

"Wanslea Guest house was just what I needed, an oasis in England's beautiful Lake District. The owners spoil you with a wonderful breakfast (many food options), incredibly clean rooms, a well stocked tea cart, comfortable furniture. I would return here in a heartbeat! "

"The staff was very hospitable and helpful. The location is in easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and transportation. The room was large, it had a pretty view and was spotless. "

"Stayed for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding nearby. We were met by John, the owner, who was very helpful in suggesting raxi firms to use. We were allocated a a room on the top floor which was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and all freshly cooked. Overall a very enjoyable stay."
