"Hotel de La Plage was the perfect place to stay for our St Jean de Luz vacation. From the moment we arrived until we checked out 2 days later the front desk staff were friendly, helpful, and professional.The hotel checked all the boxes, but the staff made our stay memorable: from helping us park our car to amazing restaurant recommendations, they were the crown jewel. "Had a lovely short stay at Auberge Basque. We took a garden room which was very cute and well decorated. The only downside was it was next to the carpark and road which was noisy and you could only have natural air by opening the back doors - We didn't want to use the air con so at night the room was a bit hot. The 6 course tasting menu was fantastic with some very interesting flavour mixes!"

Perfect base for exploring the region, its lovely villages and hiking trails. The rooms are simple but spacious and comfortable (probably newly decorated). "A good and comfortable bed, a large room with shared balcony, and a large bathroom are positives for this property. On the negative side, the shower was hand-held, with half glass door so the floor will get wet. The young woman behind the front desk at check-in had an attitude, and when I asked about a room on the ground floor instead of walking up the rounded stairway - the hotel was empty, (I explained I had an issue with stairs, she literally laughed at me). "Great basic hotel in town. Decent dinner and breakfast. We had a lovely view from our prestige room over the old church - but be warned, the bells ring on the hour all night! Still, its part of the charm of this wonderful area. We also did a great hike up to the three crosses - fabulous views."
