"Small but stylish hotel a short distance from the centre of Dunedin. Free hotel parking was a real bonus. We had a queen room which had views out over the city. The room was well equipped and nicely furnished. The included breakfast was outstanding; freshly cooked to order. Anabel was a very welcoming host and her dog, Lola, a delight."

Travel has become increasingly frictionless and increasingly impersonal at the same time. We move through airports, apps, kiosks, and automated messages. Then occasionally you meet someone who reminds you that hospitality is not a set of instructions but a human gift, the gift of making a stranger feel welcome in a new place or unfamiliar situation. Jackie and Michael have that rare gift. Years from now, I may forget the details of the room, but I will remember the feeling of being genuinely welcomed and cared for during our stay at the Chamberson. P.S. "We stayed in a garden studio and it was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. Decent little kitchenette. The fold out couch wasn’t very comfy - I think it would be fine for a smaller child. Beautiful setting and we really enjoyed waking up to the beautiful country views."
