Cabana at the La Milpa Ecolodge and Research Station seen in the early morning fog. The lodge is in the Rio Bravo Conservation area in the Belizean rainforest near the Guatemalan and Mexican borders and attracts birders and those interested in the local wildlife and Mayan ruins. The tree on the right is a kapok or ceiba tree, which Mayans believed represented the hierarchical structure of the universe.

"We immensely enjoyed ourselves at this hotel. Even though there was no cable TV, the atmosphere and the hosts more than made up for it! Kathy and her helper, Kibert, were the most gracious, kind hosts anyone could ask for! After our day of sightseeing, they would sit and chat with us like we were family. We even received a tour of the grounds and an explanation of the fruit trees. The adjoining restaurant, Arch Seafood Restaurant, had a very nice menu. Their breakfast with their homegrown fruits...
