This resort is huge and very beautiful. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We scheduled an early morning pickup luggage at 5:45am. The guy was very punctual and polite. We were luck to spent one night at Azal for our Abu Simbel Trip.
Absolutely amazing place. Beautiful setting against Lake Nasser/ The Nile. Fantastic staff that really help you. No haggling, 5min taxi to the Abu Simbel temples (Night is beautiful, quiet and comfortable.
Nice big property. Right next to the lake. Stunning views. Big pool. Friendly staff. Only 1 restaurant on the property with a limited menu. But staff is friendly and accommodating. The hotel is a 10 min drive from the temples. There is nothing around the property so you will need a car for transportation.
We absolutely loved our stay at Azal Lagoons Resort!
The staff were the friendliest we have met in Egypt, always smiling and doing their best to help. Also, instead of going as far as demanding tips like at some other places, they did not want to accept it at first - even though it was absolutely deserved and here I would encourage this practice.
While food can often be disappointing in Egypt, it wasn't the case here: good quality, tasty and very satisfying portions.
The resort has an amazing location, right on the banks of Lake Nasser. There is a beautiful garden on the property ground, packed with flowers and an astonishing number and variety of birds (bring your binoculars or camera if you like wildlife). As an unexpected extra, there was subtle music playing from speakers, adding to the overall tranquility.
A couple of extra notes:
- Don't be discouraged by the lack of reviews, it's a really new place.
- As they are still ramping up, meal options are a bit limited. We personally prefer this approach as there isn't a lot of food waste created due to offering a massive variety. In addition, they went above and beyond to prepare the somewhat customized meals we have asked for (they also paid attention to our preferences and needed no reminders).
We chose to overnight in Abu Simbel and there was limited choice for hotels. Most tourists do the day bus tour. We hired a driver and spent the night. The up side was we were able to see the temple with only two other people onsite. Great experience.
The resort is huge, appears to consist of apartments and the layout reminded me of Florida. Buildings are very spread out with parking in front. It is completely walled in with security. We had a 3 bedroom with full kitchen. Very clean and comfortable but limited wares. Check in and out was excellent. Great service. Outside of the apartment was quite dusty but then again you are surrounded by desert. The pool was like ice and looked as if the pump filter needed to be turned on. Your only dining option is at the resort unless you have a car and I am not sure how good the options in Abu Simbel are. Dinner in the resort was good but on the expensive side for Egypt. Breakfast was good and included with the room. There was a buffet which surprised us since there did not seem to be many people at the resort. The grounds are lovely and there is a pretty marina on site.
Gracias a tod@s.
