Don't be misled by the "hostel" designation of this guest house - it is really a boutique, luxury residence in the heart of Daikon Island. This appears to be the best choice among the several hotels near the Matsue train station. Itās across the street from the station and you can use an underground passageway to get to the hotel. The hotel has a large lobby, easy check in and well supplied rooms. Itās doubtful that the other hotels have such a good breakfast as the Matsue Excel. Thereās a wide variety of well prepared Japanese and Western breakfast items to start your day.

What can I say about the STAFF and HOTEL (ryokan) experience that I had at the Tamatsukuri Choseikaku Grand Hotel??
All I can say was AMAZING. I arrived prior to the check-in time, as my train schedule was fairly rigid this day. The wonderful staff had no issues in storing my backpack in their storage area until the official time I could check in.
