Skyline Retreat is nestled deep in the natural landscape of Afton Mountain, and local wildlife regularly roams the area—including a black bear that often walks through the neighborhood and occasionally checks out the trash cans. Please secure all trash, keep food inside, and follow posted guidelines to help keep everyone—guests and wildlife—safe.

Our homes are located in the beautiful Virginia countryside, where you’ll enjoy mountain views, fresh air, and quiet natural surroundings. With this setting comes the reality of nature—including the occasional visit from local insects.
We maintain a proactive pest control program with quarterly and seasonal treatments at every property. While this greatly reduces activity, it’s not possible to eliminate every bug entirely, especially in warmer months.
Thank you for understanding that a few sightings are a natural part of the rural experience—and part of the charm of being surrounded by the Blue Ridge!
