"My partner and I stayed at this beautiful family-owned hotel. We were impressed by the beautiful views from the balcony of our apartment and by the hotel itself. The apartment consisted of a large bedroom, living room / kitchen and bathroom with a balcony overlooking an inlet of the sea. As a family-owned hotel, it was lovely to meet them all and to be treated with such welcoming kindness. In the evenings, we were often somewhere on the island but if we were at the hotel, they shared their family evening meal, which was always delicious. We felt like we were at home. The rooms were cleaned daily except Sundays and were immaculate. "

"This was such a pretty hotel in a great spot close enough to Georgioupoli to go into town quickly (5 min away) but still far enough away that it felt quiet and peaceful, like a little escape. It was really quiet at night, which made sleeping here really nice. Breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly. We did have a small issue with the AC leaking (stuff happens) but the owner sorted it out quickly, which we really appreciated. Overall, a great place to stay if you’re looking for somewhere relaxing and a bit removed, but still located nicely between Chania and Rethymno. Would definitely recommend! "We visited Balito with a family of 7 and had the most wonderful stay. The hotel is small but updated and it is run by a wonderful family who makes you feel at home. The pool area is lovely and the breakfast and coffee is perfect in the morning. The rooms were good for our large family (we had two rooms with 3 beds each) and the area is very walkable. It’s about a 14 min walk to the beach (with my slower children) and a 10 min taxi into Chania. There is also a bus to take you to town and some of the other beaches that stops nearby but we didn’t do it because of elders in our group. There is a taverna around the corner that was amazing. Overall I highly recommend this hotel and will be back again if we return to Crete. "

"Lovely, boutique sized hotel. Good sized rooms & bathroom. Comfortable fairly private balcony. Breakfast has a variety of choice. There’s a bar and option to get snacks. Short walk to a lively town with lots of restaurants, bars & shops. Approximately 10 minute easy walk to sandy beaches. Have stayed here 5 times and certainly would book again."

"We spent three lovely days at the villa up in the mountains. It was full of rustic charm and very peaceful (the only sounds in the evening were goats and birds!) The building has lots of history and has a pool and an en site convenience store which is really useful. The breakfast was incredible! It was served on the balcony of our room. I’d highly recommend that you have it when you stay! The owner is also very helpful and communicative. I had several questions throughout the stay and always received timely and informative responses. "

"The room was clean, but the the shower curtain was too short to keep the water in the tiny shower. The bathroom floor would pool with A LOT of water every time the shower was used which made the bathroom nasty. Also, the hotel has an odd policy that they insist you give them your room key if you are going to leave the hotel for any period of time (dinner, shopping, etc). They place the key on the counter (not behind the counter) where anyone who walks into the hotel can then pick it up and use it to go in your room. They claim they man the front desk to prevent this, but we repeatedly entered the lobby to find no employees present. It also seemed unlikely they would realize you were taking someone else’s key. Very strange. "
