"Love the Sofitel brand and have stayed at many of their properties around the world. On the surface, the hotel is great. Spacious rooms, excellent washroom and shower, clean and modern design. The staff are friendly and attentative. All things I come to expect from the Sofitel brand. Not to mention the location: A+.
But when you stay a few nights, this was the experience:
Poor temperature control: Control pad in room does nothing with the fan speed or temperature changes. This was the biggest fault for me. Had to call front desk to have maintenance adjust temperature on their end. Some nights after a call to front desk, the AC didn’t even come on at all. Other nights you ask for it to be set to 21 celsius, the temp. drops to 20 then 19 then 18. For a luxury property, temperature control in the room should be non negotiable. It was the biggest strike during my stay.
TV malfunction: TV kept turning off by itself after a few minutes. Asked front desk to have it looked at. An employee came up, reset the TV and simply said to call him again if it doesn’t change. The problem remained By Day 3, we had enough and stopped calling.
Room safe: the back panel keeping the batteries in place was broken and wouldn’t lock in place. Again, mentioned to front desk on the first day but nothing was done. Couldn’t keep our valuables (cash, jewellery, passports) safely away.
All in all, the staff seem to try but issues were never resolved. Overall dissappointing."
