Wyndham Grand Carvoeiro Algarve

"We had a nice stay at the Wyndham. Upon arrival we were greeted nicely and helped by front desk staff. Even though our room was on the first floor we had to walk up a flight of 7 stairs to get to our room. There was no elevator but they did have bellhop service if you wanted it. The room was clean and large. The bathroom set up is not a separate room. There is a small toilet stall with door next to a small shower stall with door both of which face into the bedroom. Both were very small and hard to negotiate for a larger person. We had a hard time figuring out how to manage lights in room and needed staff to come down and show us how to turn off lights in closet that shine into bedroom for sleeping. It would have been helpful if bellhop had shown us all of this upon arrival instead of figuring it out later. We ate breakfast at the breakfast buffet which had a nice variety and food was fresh and tasty. The staff at the restaurant were very friendly and helpful. We used the pool bar which was nice but took a while to get drinks even when it was not very busy. The pool was nice looking but too cold to enjoy for us. We tried to get to the beach but it was a long walk that was not very well marked and gave up trying to get there. We did not find it very walkable to things and were glad we had a car. Parking was good and was not hard to find a spot. Overall I think it was expensive and I would not pay that much to stay at this hotel again."

"Not a lot of amenities, great little apartments, beautiful patio area, small shalow pool. Not close to much for shopping or dinning, close to old town very limited parking in town. But hotel was wonderful."

"Really nice place to stay, I stayed in the female only dorms and felt completely safe. The staff are friendly and very helpful and there are lots of activities every night to meet others staying at the hostel. Excellent location, right in the heart of Faro, you can walk anywhere in 10 mins!"

"A true luxury experience. Our room was spotless and comfortable. The views from the room, restaurants, and Sky Bar are absolutely breathtaking. Don’t miss the breakfast buffet - a perfect place to watch the sun rise. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location was a perfect distance to walk to town, and for our hiking and kayaking excursions. Parking was ample and easy to access. If you are lucky you will be greeted by Ricardo who shared a wealth of local tips."

"The hotel grounds were good, breakfast was plentiful even though repetitive day by day. They had nightly entertainment, some good, some not. The on site Flor de Sal was very good, the service there was excellent. My biggest complaint was the unfriendliness of the reception and staff everywhere. No one smiles or greets you when you walk by. I felt there was a general unfriendly vibe from the staff everywhere. They don't seem happy or pretend to be happy for the clients!! My room was fine, pillows were lumpy, I asked for new ones, and they were not any better. The bathroom was the worst: my shower had mold, All it needed was some bleach and cleaning. The washroom faucet was scratched, shower door didn't close. More than once, I told the reception about it, nothing was done. They did offer a new room but it was a huge hassle to move so we declined. The pools were ok, the adult pool was often dirty, we didn't use the outdoor pools much. The gym is nice and well equipped. Overall, it is a good hotel but the staff needs to trained to be nicer and friendlier with smiles! I don't think I would choose this hotel again. We stayed in Lisbon at a PortoBay and the vibe there was better, and hence chose this one,"
