"Linda’s house was absolutely adorable in a picturesque setting right in the heart of the Appenzell region. The views from her home were magnificent. She made check-in a breeze. Parking was a little tight but do-able. The ceilings were very low, at about 5’6” so my 6’4” husband kept hitting his head on the beams. The master bedroom mattress was a little hard to my liking so I slept on the couch one night. Also, there were no towels or washcloths in the room but she graciously provided us with her own supply when I asked. There is no hairdryer provided in the bathroom and no tv or wifi in the accommodation. But to be honest, that didn’t bother me at all. The point of our vacation was to disconnect from the world and just enjoy each other’s company without distractions. We loved it! My husband even suggested we try to book more time there. The house is only about 7min from the Ebenalp lift and about 20 min from Appenzell town proper. You must have a car to reach the property- it’s too far to walk from the train station. There are cows with cowbells everywhere and my kids loved that. Linda also provided a basket of art supplies in the living area so my kids could unplug and just draw and create artwork together- it was very thoughtful. We loved our stay here and would definitely recommend this accommodation to future guests."

"Petra was the perfect hostess. We were hoping for a refrigerator and the next morning she had one in the room for us! She was a joy and took so much pride in the property. If we had stayed in Apenzell like we’d originally planned, we would have missed seeing Lindau, which was a favorite, along with Bregenz and Dornbirn. I highly recommend this property."

"A great value and clean hotel for a quick stopover right in the middle of town. The self check in was easy and clear comms from the staff by email. Great to have a Nespresso machine in the room and a communal lounge with fridge etc too. 5 mins walk from Altstätten Stadt station on the lovely mountain railway to Appenzell and beyond. 20 mins walk or quick bus to Altstätten SG mainline station so easy to get around without a car. Single ensuite room was clean and compact but comfortable with ab big window, a small fan and no air conditioning so was rather hot in the summer heatwave! Otherwise a great hotel and excellent value for Switzerland."
