About this property

4 Bed in Rydal (oc-h45888)

  • Set in the peaceful village of Rydal, this holiday home is perfectly placed for families and friends looking to enjoy the very best of the Lake District. Just a couple of hundred metres away lies Rydal Water, a beautiful lake with shoreline walks that have inspired artists and poets for generations. Within 5-minute walk, you’ll find a friendly local pub and a tearoom in the grounds of Rydal Hall. From the doorstep, a network of walking routes opens out across the fells. Wander towards Grasmere (2.5 miles), climb up to Rydal Fell and Nab Scar for breathtaking views, or follow paths through ancient woodland. A walk through Rydal Park leads on to Ambleside (2 miles), where you’ll find a wide choice of shops, pubs and restaurants. A drive or bus ride takes you to Windermere (11 miles), where boat trips and water sports offer a different way to experience England’s largest lake.

Dating back to 1670, this charming period cottage retains a wealth of original character, including exposed wooden beams. The ground floor is accessed via the main entrance lobby, which features a wood burner and ample room for boots and outdoor gear. From here, the accommodation flows into the dining room full of historic charm, including an original spice cupboard, and then on through to the sitting room with an open fire. The adjoining kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering stays. A separate snug provides a relaxed space with a large TV and a window seat, making it a popular spot for younger guests. Also on this level is a practical utility and laundry room with a WC. Upstairs, there are four well-presented bedrooms comprising two doubles and two twins, along with two bathrooms for a relaxing soak or a refreshing rinse at the end of the day. Throughout the property, guests can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Situated directly opposite the gates of Rydal Hall, the house sits within a generous enclosed garden, with lawns to the front and outdoor seating for morning coffees and evening drinks. Off-road parking for up to three cars ensures a hassle-free stay.
