Wonderful B&B in a great location half way between the town and the lake. The room was very comfortable and had everything I needed for my 2 night stay. everything was clean and fully functional and they’d obviously considered previous guests’ feedback on all the little things like plenty of hooks on doors, shower shelf etc. The breakfast is great and you can choose what you want the night before. I’ll definitely stay here again!

Well located

Quick check in, very good breakfast, comfortable and clean room. The owners are very friendly and provide great suggestions for walking trails or places to see / eat. Walking distance to several restaurants and beautiful trails.

Wonderful hospitality and great location

We had a wonderful few days in Ambleside, staying with Tina and Steve. Everything about the guest house is exactly what we wanted. Clean, friendly, great breakfast, etc. It is a perfect location for visiting Ambleside in the surrounding area. Highly recommended.

Comfortable stay

Great location. Traditional and attractive well maintained building. Hosts very friendly and hospitable. Breakfast very nice. Room very comfortable. The only issue you could have is with the limited parking. Permits for the nearby parking lot was available also.

Great base for exploring the area

Great place to use as a base to explore the area. Not much directly around the property but it is walking distance from Ambleside's pubs and restaurants. Room 1 was nicely renovated, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent!

Lovely guesthouse in a lovely location

Booked a single room for 3 nights, which was on the top floor. The owners were very warm and welcoming when I arrived, plus the additional excited welcome from little Charlie was adorable. The room was lovely and clean, bed was comfy and bathroom was spotless. Shower was a good pressure and temperature and I love that they use Out of Eden bathroom products, both eco friendly and cruelty free. Breakfast was served between 8 and 8.45, which you chose the night before, and was absolutely delicious with a good selection to choose from. By staying here you also get a discount at a couple of restaurants in the town and a parking pass for various car parks in the local area, which is a bonus. There is limited parking on site (I’d say max 3-4 vehicles) but the pass gives you free parking at the car park roughly 4 doors down from the guesthouse. It’s a great location, only a short walk in to the town and the waterfront. I had a slight issue with the temperature of the room on the first night, I was very cold overnight, but the owners were so helpful when I brought it up and offered to put an extra heater in my room with an additional duvet. This really helped make my stay more comfortable. Thank you Tina and Steve for everything and I hope your break is as enjoyable as mine.

A very friendly welcome. Easy check-in. Dining options explained including excellent choices. Very clean and tidy room and ensuite. All the expected facilities. Lovely place and friendly owners

Excellent guest house. We stayed in the king-sized room which was decently sized and had a recently refurbished bathroom. The room was spacious, airy, and bright. The place was lovely and we met one of the owners, Steve, who was an absolutely excellent host, incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely interested in his guests. His delightful conversations and willingness to share invaluable local tips truly enhanced our experience. The breakfast which was included in the reservation was delicious and tasty. The rooms came with kettle and tea bags with milk pots and sugar. There was free parking in nearby car park which was 2 mins walk away from the hotel.

Clean and comfortable place to stay in a really convenient location. It is a short walk to Windermere one way and Ambleside town centre the other. Breakfast was excellent (the bacon is amazing) in a spacious, informal dining room and trust me, you must try the rhubarb and ginger jam. Parking is catered for and not a problem. Owners Tina and Steve are such nice people - friendly and as helpful as could be and very knowledgable about the area. It will be the first place I check for availability when I'm next in Ambleside. A great stay - thank you Tina and Steve. PS - I made it up Wansfell Pike no problem :)

We stayed at the Wanslea on a short motorcycle trip to Ambleside. The rooms were spotless and the building is in an excellent location. A member of our party was staying in another hotel but the owners of the Wanslea were kind enough to accommodate him for breakfast. The entire experience was lovely and the owners were incredibly welcoming. Thank you for a pleasant stay.
