"We were hoping to be surprised by finding a peaceful place to stay for 10 days in the Belgian countryside while visiting family. This place far exceeded that for many reasons. This stone and brick house from the 1800’s has been restored by the family to it’s original look on the outside while the inside has totally been modernized with a very clean simple look that includes a full kitchen, microwave, full dining and living room, a pellet stove that really works and large windows with lots of light to naturally brighten the place. The house sits on a piece of property that is surrounded by woods. A river complet with a waterfall runs adjacent that the family harvests its energy from to supply 100% of the electricity for both the rental and their larger house. That house was once a stone cutting factory with many of the machines still inside and in working condition. Impressive. Wanze itself is in the beautiful countryside with many long walks, great birds watching and if a cycling enthusiasts many safe roads to choose from. Belgians love their cycling. It is also located a short drive to the beautiful city of Huy and Liege a little farther away.Virginie our hostess was over the top nice to us even with her busy schedule she took the time to tell us where to go and what to see having grown up there. She even went as far as offering us eggs from her chickens. Heck yes we took them. We loved this place and hope to return someday."
