We enjoyed our stay on the Bamboo Boat. Han was a gracious host and responded to our queries in a timely manner. The Boat was clean and in a great location for access to Central Station and all the districts. Great for exploring. The bonus for us were the bikes. The views from the sun deck and living space were fabulous. Wonderful for kicking back after busy days seeing the sights. The Boat was quiet and peaceful especially at night. The bed comfortable. We had no trouble sleeping! As for cooking on board, we had no plans but for those who do be aware there is no cook top or oven, only a microwave, toaster, kettle and single hot plate - (City ordinance prohibits flammable fuels on board.) All in all a great spot.

Wonderful stay

Unique experience in centre of Amsterdam. Han has thought of everything. Comfortable beds, excellent coffee, lovely outdoor space. Kids loved their tiny bunkhouse. We loved the views!

My family of four enjoyed our stay immensely. We were delayed by lost luggage and Han waited for us to make sure we got situated. The boat was great fun, well equipped and exactly as described. The location is very convenient, and the views from the boat are amazing. Highly recommend to anyone staying in Amsterdam!

We enjoyed Han‘s place very much. It was very convenient to Amsterdam within walking distance of many things. The bed was very comfortable. If I was to suggest any changes, it would be to get a microwave. We could have used it once or twice. Thank you very much!

Thoroughly brilliant boathouse stay

Han was extremely helpful and the stay was fantatstic. Brilliant position in central Amsterdam. Loved the boat. Comfortable, warm and clean. Characterful to say the least. The added benefit of having bikes supplied for us to use was very much appreciated. Thankyou Han.

Fab houseboat!

Thoroughly enjoyed our wee stay on Bamboo Boat. The location is super central so just perfect for us. The boat is more roomy than the photos make it appear. Was clean and comfy and a fun place to stay. It would be tricky if you have limited mobility. You can’t cook on the boat, not a bother for us as we were out and about the entire time. Otherwise the kitchen is well kitted out with 2 fridges, wee dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster. Great to have the bikes too. Han was super responsive and helpful before and during our visit. Thanks Han :)

Convenient and cool houseboat

Our two adults and two kids (3 and 7) had a great time in a week on this houseboat. There was plenty of space — the kids took the “lower” bedroom and the adults took the one adjacent to the dining and kitchen area. The inside was cozy and comfortable whatever the weather (highly variable from sun to hailstorms!) and we enjoyed hanging out on the deck when the weather allowed. The owner, Hans, was always available and was helpful throughout the stay, from meeting us at check-in to when we needed ice after our younger daughter bumped her face. We didn’t use the bikes much because we rented ones with child seats, but I did ride one to the store after we returned our rentals and it was ten times better! A great asset to have on hand. Would gladly stay here again!

Fun time!!

The Bamboo Boat was perfect for my granddaughter and I. We so enjoyed our 15 minute walk to Central Station every morning, from the boat. From there, we took the tram, via the I Amsterdam Card (well worth the money), to a different neighborhood every day. We explored, museums, shops and restaurants that never failed to disappoint. Everything was perfect, and Han was so accommodating and gentlemanly, to walk us to the boat, from the station, upon our arrival. I highly recommend this for those with small families and who are physically able to navigate the ups and downs of the boat. We both want to come back when the weather is better, but that didn't stop us!!

Wonderful experience!

This was a really cool place to stay. Han was a terrific host, very welcoming and accommodating. He met us at the end of his little road and even carried my suitcase to the boat. Han acclimated us to the boat, explaining where everything was, and how to take care of the boat. He had flowers throughout the space, and had some beverages in the upstairs refrigerator. The main Iiving space has a couch, a desk, small refrigerator, kitchen sink and hot pot. From here one can access one sleeping area and one bathroom. Down a ships ladder to a larger space, with another sleeping area, eating table, bathroom, closet, kitchen area, and sitting area. The kitchen does not have a cooking stove, Han told us rental boats cannot have them. But there was an espresso machine, toaster, refrigerator, dishwasher, hot plate, lots of cookware, dishes, and silverware. The outside area was lovely, with comfortable seating. It was the perfect place to watch the Kings Day festivities, with lots of boat traffic in front of the boat. The boat was very clean and well equipped. Central station , grocery stores and attractions were within walking distance. Although perfect for us, those with mobility issues, and claustrophobia, would find it a challenging place to stay. Han lives in half the boat and is available if, and when, you need him. But he is very respectful of your privacy.

The Perfect Place To Stay

Fantastic location!

The houseboat was conveniently located with great access to all public transport. Han was helpful and very knowledgeable, and we had a great time on the houseboat! The stairs and ladder would be tough for very small children or anyone with mobility issues - my 4 and 6 year olds were delighted and had a wonderful time.

This house boat served us very well. We weren’t sure what to expect but Han was informative and helpful. The location was perfect, on the water, close to the train station and we walked all over Amsterdam. We would return if the occasion arose.

Das Hausboot von HAN liegt superzentral und zu Fuß ist man in 5 Minuten mitten im Leben von Amsterdam! Trotzdem hat mal absolute Ruhe auf dem Boot. Ob mit Zug oder PKW liegt das Boot super erreichbar. Seinen PKW kann man im Parkhaus Osterdock einmieten… meine Mädls und ich waren total begeistert und Amsterdam ist ne Reise wert.

Not a Good Fit for us

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed by the houseboat and I don't feel like the listing accurately describes the space especially the steps required to navigate to both bedroom spaces. Han was wonderful to meet us and help us get on the boat, but immediately told us that if you are claustrophobic, then one bedroom isn't for you. That was the bedroom we had planned to have our teen use, but she does get very anxious in tight spaces. The other room is only accessible down a steep ladder which I don't think is accurately described in the listing. I only saw 4 steps to the boat mentioned. In addition, the listing does not make clear that Han also lives on the boat attached to your dpace and that the door cannot be locked. Ultimately, we were not able to physically stay on the boat and had to find other accommodations in Amsterdam last minute. With an updated clear listing, this boat may be a great choice, but it was not for our family.

Charming Stay on the Bamboo Houseboat

What a delightful little houseboat! Three friends and I stayed here for three nights during our trip to Amsterdam, and it was such a memorable experience. Han, our host, was incredibly kind—he greeted us upon arrival and even helped us carry our large suitcases onto the boat (which was no small feat given the precarious path!).He gave us a quick tour, explained how to use the four bikes available for our use, and had thoughtfully stocked the fridge with some drinks to welcome us. From that moment on, the Bamboo Houseboat was ours to enjoy.The location is fantastic—peaceful and quiet, yet within easy walking or biking distance to Central Dam. The view from the boat looks out over the newer part of Amsterdam, offering a lovely contrast to the city's historic charm.Inside, the houseboat was clean, spacious, and the beds were super comfortable. I’d absolutely stay here again if I return to Amsterdam!
