"The grounds around the hotel are beautiful, didn’t realise the history of the building and grounds. Very interesting. My only couple of comments would be I felt the hotel lacked a defined lounge / bar area . There were a couple of sets of leather sofas and chairs but they had dining tables in between , which just didn’t feel relaxed for anyone wanting just a drink or indeed for someone eating. We ate in the restaurant but my husband’s starter was Prawn cocktail which was literally a single lettuce leaf , piece of tomato and a spoonful of very inedible/ tasteless prawns. My husband didn’t eat it. I had the chicken wings which were ok but the salad garnish was very limp lettuce leaves. My husband had the Chicken Tikka Masala and he said that was tasty and I had the Mushroom Linguine which was ok but it was served in a cold bowl, not great. I didn’t eat it all as it went cold very quickly. I would definitely stay again but maybe go out for dinner !! Breakfast was fine !"

"Everything was great except the food i tried the lamb rump which was served extremely rare with peapods, green beans and mashed potatoes Lamb was very chewy to the point I couldnt eat it and peapods (not a great choice) were overcooked. Location is not near Dumfries which I had not noticed when booking Breakfast was ok but sausage undercooked."

"It was an amazing find, travelling South on a long journey from Stornoway to Keswick. I began to feel tired in the afternoon, so I stopped the car went onto Expedia and found this place. The price was very reasonable for August, and the hotel was lovely, a little off the beaten track, but there was a local shop 2 mins away. Staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. I’m going to bookmark this one."

"What a great and beautiful location . We really enjoyed our stay here . The meals are excellent and the Staff very friendly . They are a very friendly dog Hotel . The room was a good size . There is also a Lift in the Building . The Bar area was full of life and a great place to socialise . There's also a lounge area which is quite impressive . You have to book meal times and there quiet strict to them . There is a carpark area and a drop of area . They also have Wedding reception here and a Marquee for holding other functions ."

"All good and what you pay for but you can’t beat the views and it is so convenient. All clean. All the basics what you need and so thankful they accept dogs. It’s our favourite stop off for visiting north Scotland"
