The Insel is a clean basic and friendly hotel close to town. The staff are lovely and very helpful especially Patricia at reception. The breakfast is basic but fresh. The laundry ladies are also very helpful. Negative - paying for wifi. Will stay here again.

Excellent customer service by all. I stayed 5 nights here with my 80 & 84 year parents. The staff were very accommodating to their needs and treated them with the utmost respect. They were loving, caring and professional always greeting you with a smile. Front house staff right through to the back house, kitchen, cleaners were a joy to deal with. We highly recommend Insel to those visiting Samoa it will be your home away from home with Island feels.

It’s easy to locate, staff are attentive, restaurant has good food especially pasta and the sashimi. The only problem is the small bathroom and shower if you are tall and big. Very peaceful space and relaxing.

The staff went out of their way to ensure we had a good stay. There is ongoing upgrading and that should be reflected in future reviews. Breakfast (included) was very Samoan and enjoyable - but don't be late getting their or you might miss out on some dishes.

Thank you for having security 24/7 and laundry, breakfast. The only suggestion we have to add the option of local fruits for breakfast. papaya, coconut, local banana, pineapple. Location of hotel is great. Our room was located on the ground floor. Our room was dated and was quite unpleasant to stay in. The beds were very uncomfortable. The biggest let down is the bathroom. It's old and dated and just had a smell that didn't go away. I know the other rooms on the upper levels have been refurbished so maybe the lower level will eventually be refurbished too.

Under par - We had 3 rooms for 3 nights. Room facilities including linen are old, rooms poorly equipped ie no jug in the 2/3 rooms we booked & no coffee/tea. Had to wait upto 2hrs for a jug to be delivered to our room. This hotel needs an upgrade & needs to scale up their housekeeping staff, either delay in room being serviced or not serviced at all. staff in dining area polite and professional, although not so much the case for those at reception. Location is good - close to town & there’s a nice pizza plc across the road. We wont be staying here again:(

A small problem that can lead to big issue

We've stayed at Insel Fehmarn many times while in Samoa. Their 3rd-floor executive rooms are the best bang for the buck, in my opinion, and complimentary breakfast is always a delight. Yet, on this trip, when we stepped out for a quick breakfast, we left everything lying out (wallet, jewelry, passports, electronics, etc.) as we would check out right afterward. To our shock, as we approached our room, I noticed the cleaning lady three doors down from us and the doors next to our rooms slightly ajar. When we came to our door, it was also open. I presumed they came by to see if we'd checked out yet but saw everything inside and closed the door, yet it was still open. The good thing was that no one else went in there, and nothing was missing, but they didn't offer a "Do not Disturb" sign, and there was no way to advise them not to enter the room. This could have caused significant problems if someone else would have entered the room. Because we were in a rush, we didn't make a big deal about it, which can cause serious problems. I hope they implement some procedures that will keep their guest's property safe because leaving a door open isn't a simple mistake.
