About this property
Comfortable Detached House with Mountain and Meadow views
Old Tynribbie House was built in the late 18th Century and has been refurbished into a comfortable 2 storey, 4-bedroom family home. The house is situated in the heart of the West Coast of Scotland, in the village of Appin in Argyll on the A828 opposite the Port Appin junction. The house comprises of a comfortable living room, a large family kitchen, 3 small double rooms, a twin bedroom, a shower room and a bathroom. On arrival you will walk through the front door into a tiled hall area. Downstairs off the hall is a small double room and a twin room and a family shower room. A wooden spiral staircase takes you to a mezzanine floor upstairs which overlooks the lounge below. Upstairs there is a small double room to the front and a second small double room to the rear with a Jack and Jill bathroom which can be used as an en-suite or dual use – which ever works best for your family. The living room is comfortable with a leather sofa and occasional chairs and an amazing feature wall and dramatic ceiling. Also, in the living area is the main TV with Sky along with a wood burner - which is great on a cold winter’s day. The hub of the house as got to be the kitchen; this is our favourite place to be as it becomes central to everything going on in the day. The kitchen has an iconic barn style theme which always feels warm and welcoming with a large dining table. The kitchen is fitted with everything you need including a washing machine and a dish washer. French doors from the kitchen lead to the patio area with views of the meadow and Beinn Donn. There is a large family patio style table and chairs. Old Tynribbie House is a great central point to base yourself to visit all that Argyll, the Isles and surrounding areas have to offer. The cycle path from Oban to Fort William is right on your doorstep which makes cycling and walking a great option when spending time exploring, or why not take the 2.5 mile journey down to Port Appin where you can catch the foot passenger ferry to the lovely small island of Lismore.

It was a wonderful place, rural and quiet. The place was very modern with all the conveniences. Very comfortable.
Angela's communication was excellent and responded promptly.
Lovely, feel good property with beautiful features. Well equipped kitchen with large dining table, which we love as a family. Good outdoor space (even although it was blowing a hoolie outside!)
Old Tynribbie House is a lovely property, with everything you need. Perfect location for walks, hiking or just chilling. Excellent experience and Angela was a brilliant host! Would definitely book again :-)
House was very nice in rural area. Well furnished accommodation, but could have used some basic amenities in kitchen for new arrivals . Instructions for arrival were challenging (associated mapping info not accurate). Overall our stay was very good.
The Tynribbie house was very well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Beds were very comfy and there was a bike/ walking trail right outside. We enjoyed the area which was away from the busy port of Oban which is where we bought groceries at TESCO. We golfed at the woodlands and had a wonderful dinner at Holly tree. I would recommend this as a good stop in your way to the Isle of Skye. Angela was very responsive to any questions we had.
Lovely house, great views of the local hills, house had everything we needed and Angela was communicative and supportive throughout our stay. Thank you!
We really enjoyed our stay at Tynribbie House. It was a good location for running up and down the Great Glen, and so close to Castle Stalker. The kitchen is beautiful and well stocked. Our only complaint with the house is that we expected an electric dryer along with the washer and there was only a drying rack. We felt the listing was a bit misleading on this point. But otherwise, it is a great place to stay.
We spent a wonderful week in the spacious house in Appin and found it a perfect home base for travels on the west coast, e.g. to Fort William / Ben Nevis, Glencoe (definitely worth a few visits) or also down to Inveraray and Loch Lomond. Super friendly host, a very comfortable house equipped with everything we needed.
Great house, location and communication from Angela. Perfect for visiting Oban, Fort William and the west coast, house is great with plenty of room and everything you need.
Lovely character property …. Comfortable and spacey double height living area with really big kitchen … 4 big bedrooms … everything you could need for a stay in the area… positioned well for North Argyllshire and Glencoe … really great to see our lovely host … recommended
A perfect place to stay.
Angela was an excellent host. The welcome basket was one of the best we’ve seen.
The home is faultless and like a home from home with everything you need. Tastefully decorated and presented to a very high standard. Lots of room & outdoor space.
The location is almost equidistant between Fort William & Oban. Would be a good base to explore the Highlands. Also right next to a cycle path - we used for walks to Castle Stalker.
We’d definitely stay here again if visiting the region.
Angela was an amazing host. Great communication through booking and pre-arrival and very welcoming when we arrived. Fast response to the few questions we had about the property. She couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely welcome pack and really well equipped clean property - it really was like a home from home. I had brought lots of stuff with us having stayed in previous properties but Angela had thought of everything. The property was bigger than we had anticipated and the photos didn't do it justice. Great outdoor seating areas at front and back to relax and even a picnic table further out in the garden to catch the last rays of sun. She had even provided citronella candles and blankets!. Beds were super comfy and bedding clean and good quality. Awesome shower! Hairdryers, board games, jigsaws, coffee all provided. The property location was great too. It literally was right on the traffic free cycle route and lots of cycle maps and info were provided. We enjoyed cycling the 2.5 miles for a drink in the Pierhouse at Port Appin and the Creagan Inn and the 1 mile cycle to the Old Inn for a fab steak dinner - ask for a conservatory table when you book to ensure lovely views across to Castle Stalker. Only a 20-30 minute drive into Oban where you can take a ferry to Mull, Lismore etc for a day trip too. We had a fantastic stay and wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend to friends! Thank you Angela.
