"Had a good one night stay here. I was worried it wouldn’t be enough time to see everything i wanted too, but it turned out to be perfect. You can drop off your luggage before and after you check in which is really nice. Highlights for me were the public bath, and morning ceremony."

"The experience was what we expected. Very Japanese, quiet with beautiful gardens. They changed our booking from a room for 6 to three rooms for 2 each and had a nice garden view. The dinner was surprisingly very good with all vegetable dishes but quite diverse texture and taste. We enjoyed our stay. "

"The shuttle feature is great from the train station, although you need to plan ahead due to its limited availability. Taxi to the property was inexpensive and affordable from the train station as well. On suite onsen and private bath is a must have feature with a clear view to the river below and the forest. Dinner serve in room was beyond exceptional. Breakfast was a little disappointing but still good. Definitely making this place an annual tradition to revisit every time we're back in...

"An incredible experience from the moment you enter. The welcome greetings and experience with the entire staff is amazing. They are incredibly welcoming and genuine. The rooms are very traditional Japanese and are gorgeous. The food is excellent and the service of the food is really unique and incredible with dinners in your room. "Really lovely ryokan and onsen with beautiful ocean views. The futons were very comfortable, as well. It's a little outside of Wakayama city (about 30 minutes/¥3500 by taxi), but there is a nearby bus and they have a parking area if you are driving. The staff speaks a little English, but don't expect the same level of English that you might get at a larger, urban hotel. Overall, it was very relaxing and I would definitely recommend it."

"とにかく素晴らしいです！南朝時代の皇居として使用された堀家の母家に隣接する離れに泊まれるのですから。内部は綺麗にリノベーションされてますし、とても快適です。離れの横、母家の横には川が流れてますので、そのせせらぎや、カジカガエルの声が聞こえてきて、とても情緒があります。泊まった日は、はからずも満月でしたので、広々としたお風呂に入り、その窓から月と川を眺めておりました。心の底から癒されるひと時でした。お風呂は家族で入れる大きさなので、ゆったりできます。ホテルの周りには人がいませんので、夜になると川の音しかしません。庭に出て自然の音に包まれながら、満月を愛でつつお酒を飲む最高の時間。魂の洗濯が出来た気がしました。また、当主の堀様も品のある素敵な方で、さすが代々続いてこられたお家柄だと感動しました。歴史好きな方は是非、またそうでない方でも、きっと満足出来るホテルだと思います。今回は食事無しでしたので、それだけが心残りですね。次回は是非、食事もしてみたいと思いました。ありがとうございました！"
