"Booked the cabin because it was showing availability mid March for instant confirmation. VRBO charged my card for stay. Despite repeated emails to Owner for arrival directions and clarification of the one email I received back, no word from the Owner. Went to the address of the listing on scheduled arrival day only to find no such address existed. The cabin was on another road altogether. Come to find out there is No running water or heat for a winter weekend stay. Received my refund from VRBO,...

Presque Isle Hotel

8/10 Good

"Good if your plans are to visit UMPI across the street and do nothing else. We were there Monday through Friday and housekeeping never came - the garbage from takeout started smelling so we put it in the hallway and they even took their time picking it up, yet there was a tip envelope left for housekeeping (?!) no new towels all week. the airport shuttle is $20 which felt excessive for such a short ride. The gym was not open during our stay. They had a water pipe burst and cut off water for a while. Waffle batter was empty at breakfast and day shift can’t refill it they said. Beds were comfortable but one of them creaked very loudly. The food in the restaurant was mid at best, not great if being honest but there wasn’t great food in the whole town when we went out either, to be fair. Would possibly stay again but if I had to do it all over again I probably would’ve stayed at the Northeastland hotel downtown. It was truly shameful how Presque Isle Hotel had tattered and torn American flags up, especially between Memorial Day and the 4th of July on this nations 250th."

"So I arrived about 5:30 PM on Monday. The desk was closed and locked up. My key was taped to the door. Because of "staffing' issues, they left early. The room itself was nice. The bed was very comfortable. Before I got into the shower, I did find a note on the desk saying the "hot and cold" valves were installed backwards.... so cold was hot and so on. Glad I found that. There was an issue with a number of very large ants running around by the toilet room. The AC did not work. There was no one to tell this too. It came on for about four seconds, then stopped. This was room 201. Thankfully it was a cool night and I opened the windows... woke up all stuffed up though. Also, the fan that is in the toilet came on with the bathroom light was so loud, I just left the light off and used the hall light. Other than that, it was a really cool room. Old time feel. Internet worked great, can.t say anything about the TV as I didn't turn it on. I think I was the only one in the place... my motorcycle was in the parking lot by itself. I would stay there again, as long as I had someone to tell if there were any problems. Because I was there on a Sunday night, there was only one cafe about 1.4 miles west of the hotel called Dolly's Restaurant. It was a very nice place to eat. I'm glad it was open... Subway was not a choice of mine unless I had no other choice."

"Wonderful camp right on the lake with the most exquisite views!The sweet sounds of the loons and Canadian geese as they swam by was perfect !Very cozy and stocked with everything you need!I had some fires in the fire pit with efficient amount of wood - perfect for a relaxing evening.Perfect for my vacation to The County - Thank you "

"The remodelled section is lovely. The staff honest and helpful with understanding the hours for local shops and stops. The lack of available food in the vending machines sounds silly but the entire town closes up at or before dark so plan for truckstop gas station food or grab something at a drive thru just before they close up."
