Check in was very smooth and friendly staff. The room had everything needed for a short break. Dinner was lovely and the entertainment was fine. All in all we would stay again.
Place is great, older place but rooms nice and clean, great restaurant and public lounge to sit around. Great garden to enjoy. Castle down the street. Staff was wonderful/
A bit of a busman’s hotel
Good atmosphere but the other guests smiling at the front door beside the No smoking sign
And loud guests
But hotel views a must
The staff were very helpful 🙏🙏
Staff were excellent in accommodating my needs , especially as i had a suprise for my sisters 50th birthday In the dining room the staff were all excellent and assisted in my sister’s suprise … ( Me wearing a wig) :)

The property is in a beautiful position next to the Loch Long with a magnificent view of the hills. Could be more outside seating. Entrance hall to room was horrible, and strong smell of smoke. The bedroom was above the kitchen. There was a continuous noise and smell. The bathroom was not clean and no water pressure in shower.
Hotel and facilities and bedrooms are absolutely disgusting. Hasn’t been decorated or cleaned since 1950!
Whole hotel smells damp carpets are rotten. Bed bugs under cover
Hotel us outdated, not clean, smells of mould, cockroaches in tge room and other insects.

Poor menu
This hotel doesn’t not cater for business visitors ! Very limited menu options and it revolves around people on coach trips who were their priority!
I won’t be returning there !

Bathroom was filthy with dust and in an overall grotty condition
Absolutely stinking of damp. Not only that but all my clothes and belongings have come home smelling of the damp from the room and I’ve had to throw a way a suitcase as a result.
Pretty disappointing stay overall. It was our last of six nights in the Highlands and Arrochar was the perfect location. The Claymore looked like good value for money. The condition of the hotel is poor - clearly buildings and rooms have been added ad hoc over the years, and not expertly. WiFi didn't reach any of the rooms. The decor is incredibly plain and the facilities are meagre. Staff were pleasant but we were overall disappointed - did not match our expectations for the price.
Poor Cleaning
No dental kits in the rooms
Cobwebs
Moss
Spiders in the toilet
Dirty carpet
I asked a member of staff for water and they told me they don’t supply water in the room. So apparently I was supposed to drink from the bathroom sink.
I can write an essay about it but every guest was complaining about the same things.
I do not believe there any health and safety checks here.
Should have read other reviews first. One of the lowest prices in the area was the reason behind my choice. We used the hotel as a base for exploring the area. It was within 15 mins of Loch Lomond and 40mins to Inveraray.
Restaurant side was nice new extension. Food was good. We had the steak the first night which was nice and a special offer for Thursdays and Saturdays.
Breakfasts were good. A little bit disorganised on the second day as it was very busy.
The hotel is very dated.
They have tried to improve the bedrooms with a modern bathroom which was ok but the hallways and stairways were shocking.
Coach trips use this hotel so it got very busy at times and really felt like it was set up for the coach trips more than trying to be a nicer hotel.
