My first time at cala di volpe , not the first time in Sardinia, The hotel is located 30min from the airport and 10min from Porto cervo , Sept is a quiet time. Specially after the 15th. The hotel is amazing, so lovely in all aspects . Located in an amazing area in Sardinia. The food and beverage is expensive. The room is clean . In general it's more than 5 star ⭐, Definitely I'll come back to this property. It's a must

They’ve turned this into a fancy Marriott. The food choices cater to the mega yachts that anchor nearby. The “barbecue” lunch by the pool is 250 pp. the only alternative is a qr code order app that reminds one of a jack in the box drive thru. They don’t even pretend to care about feeding the hotel guests. They have a matsuhisa and beefbar. Why? Presumably for billionaire yachter’s. It’s just inauthentic and the service is indifferent. I was here 30 years ago. Was totally different. This has been reduced to a Marriott bonvoy benefit. Days gone by, the owners remembered your name. The beach is nice. Otherwise makes me feel like I’m in a Scottsdale Marriott.

The rooms are absolutely tiny - we had the 3rd or 4th cheapest room category and we still couldn't fit out suitcases in the room. Room service was almost impossible in such a tiny room. Moreover, you have to take a shuttle to the beach which is a bit of an inconvenience. The facilities and the overall hotel building is very underwhelming for the price. Having said that, the service and all the staff are absolutely incredible especially given the size of the hotel. They truly go above and beyond to make you feel special. Likewise, the food (especially the lunch buffet) is one of the best lunch restaurants we've ever experienced in a hotel. Overall the hotel is definitely not good value for money in my opinion. If this hotel was not in Sardinia it would cost a fraction of the price and would probably be 4 stars.

All was fine until one day my son decided to wear shorts. Upon walking into the hotel lobby from a nice dinner he was accosted by 2 worker who literally flipped out that he was wearing designer shorts. They started demanding he leave the hotel immediately despite us spending a fortune per night . He was not wearing a bathing suit and flip flops. He was well dressed and we had just come back from a nice waterfront restaurant. They acted as if he was a criminal walking into the hotel and created a scene in front of everyone. When you have a hotel in a tropical area that reaches 100 degrees you shouldn’t be yelling at your client about wearing shorts. He wasn’t wearing a bathing suit and flip flops. The staff was a rude , pretentious and complete snobs. They ruined the whole vacation vibe that we paid so much money for. Find another place in my opinion.

Overall, I would recommend staying at Cala di Volpe. The service was wonderful. We had a wonderful time. The I my negative was that the pool was cold.

This property, the service, staff and location are impeccable in every way. I traveled in my career extensively for decades and the experience here is one of the best I have ever had. I cannot rate this high enough in every category. I cannot wait to come back again and again.

Incredible - but expensive

The hotel is fabulous. Everything you’d expect from a top Italian hotel. Go there dressing to impress as everyone dressed to the 9s. The main restaurant is excellent. Ignore the menu, ask the waiter and they’ll pretty much make you whatever you want. Only downside is everything is extra and expensive! Just get ready to sign it to the room…

Beautiful grounds, rooms just ok.

The grounds of this place are beautiful. The room was just ok. It was in the "Heritage" section and on the smaller side. The shower was the smallest we'd seen in the 6 hotels we stayed in during our trip. It also was the only one without a makeup mirror and the only one who did not provide a tote bag to use when going to the beach or for excursions. Possibly the rooms in the other side of the hotel are nicer. The ones on the website look much nicer than the ones we were given.

An aesthetic dream (but a pricey one!)

Cala di Volpe is undoubtedly a stunning property - one of the most aesthetically unique and beautiful places I've stayed in. Every corner is so picturesque, it almost feels unreal. We loved the honeymoon surprise on arrival, the room upgrade, the free use of the pristine world-class Mouratoglou (!) tennis courts and Padel courts, and the open air fitness centre (though we do think a covering over the thatched roof would prevent equipment damage from rain!). My husband had food poisoning on the final night (from another restaurant, not the hotel's!) and they kindly extended our check out obligingly. A few areas of improvement - only because you are paying a great deal to stay here and so deserve the best! - there is no milk for tea/coffee provided in the room and when I requested some, they charged me 9 Euros for a cup of milk! - non-motorised water sports are charged and is run by a third company ... I would think a hotel of this price should provide complimentary kayaks / SUP available for guests to use in the private beach - there is no jacuzzi or pool in the spa, and the spa menu is exorbitantly priced - the hospitality of the hotel, whilst friendly, was not overly accommodating (for reference, La Villa Del Rei for us is the gold standard!)
