This was a great place to stay during our time in Ashland for OSF.
The cottage is lovely for two people, the bed very comfy, and the short distance to downtown is great. Property owner was awesome, good communication and setup.
There are a few small (really, super minor) things that didn't really detract from our stay, but would have been nice:
- The alley that you access the cottage (which is at the back of the owner's property) from is not paved. This didn't matter for driving, but as we walked many places, knowing this ahead of time would have changed what I packed as gravel and high heels really don't mix.
- While the back doors for accessing the porch do have curtains for them, the large bay window does not. As we were on vacation and would have liked it to be darker as we slept in, this wasn't great. It also means extra planning for every shower as our clothes were upstairs in the bedroom, but the shower is downstairs past said window. The robes provided were nice, but should not have felt like a requirement when just grabbing a shower.
- There is basically no lighting in the alley that you use to access the cottage. We, like many visitors I'm sure, were in town for the Shakespeare Festival and seeing evening plays. It would have been nice if some small flashlights (something that could fit in a purse) were provided so that we weren't trying to navigate in the dark.
So, in summary, really great place to stay for our week in Ashland. Will definitely be considering the property for future stays, but a few small adjustments would make it a 5-star guaranteed recommendation to anyone.
