Very nice and clean property with lots of artistic accents. We enjoyed a beautiful views of Columbia river delta and also a great big spa. I can surely recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a relaxing evening.
We loved Desiree. She is sweet and a hustler. We saw her bring drinks, check people in, bring towels to the spa, and she also helped housekeeping with setup. We would stay here a hundred more times. Relax and retreat here!
The rooms were clean and upto daye the river view room faced the river with nice views. The garden room i was in as a corner room that didn’t face a garden but a walkway. The tv didn’t work properly but the fire-pit and hot tub was busy with other visitors. Glad we stayed here recommend
My room was at the far end of the property (3rd building) so views of the waterway were a bit limited.
Room was very clean and nicely appointed...kudos to the cleaning service. Shower was interesting because of a partial door. Great water pressure and nice shower head. Toilet seat was a bit unstable...maybe didnt match the toilet exactly. Great tile work in the bathroom.
Beds were comfortable. Heat and cooling were eay to adjust using the provided remote.
Microwave in a room next door was odd but workable.
Very quiet so slept soundly.
The personal touches were adorable including a hand written note sealed so cute, rooms are renovated with very nice products, well-thought-out design, & stunning bathrooms.
This was the first time my girlfriend and I had been to the property since the hotel reopened after a remodel and rebranding, and we couldn't be more impressed. The staff was great, the service was terrific. We came with a pet, and chose the bottom floor. The view was breathtaking. We enjoyed a really great cheese plate and some beverages while we watched the ships from a bluff above the Columbia River. It was quiet and peaceful. The bed was comfortable. W e liked the decor in the room. Highly recommend putting in for a breakfast basket to be delivered in the morning to your room. That was great. My girlfriend really liked the Salt and stone soaps and beauty products. I don't have any criticisms. We loved it so much, that we booked a few more nights for the following week.
My family has been staying at this hotel for decades, formerly known as The Crest. We stayed because it was a little hidden gem outside of town and it was cheap. After having been letdown by The Crest, twice within the last year and a half, we were a little leery of staying here again. We are so glad we gave it a shot. Now known as The Herondale. The whole place has undergone an incredible facelift. It was so clean and refreshing. The front desk staff was so welcoming and attentive. The beds, comfortable and the pillows, succulent. My family was able to sit outside comfortably at one of their new tables and hang out. We will continue to stay at the place on the bluff, newly transformed into The Herondale. 💚
The rooms are immaculately clean and new and sparsely decorated. I would say the room was peaceful. However, be prepared to be greeted by a very small room. The queen size bed barely fit. The shower was tiny, I could barely turn around in the shower - I'm 5'-7" 150 lbs, use this as a comparison. The AC is very quiet, looked new, yet difficult to adjust the angle of where the air was flowing. The outside looked as if it was recently painted. The grounds were little free. The amazing part of this hotel was its location and therefore view of the river. The hotel is on a bluff and there were Adirondack chairs facing the river, it was majestic. I would recommend this hotel. Just beware of the size of its accommodations.
This property can best be described as out of Dickens' novel A Tale of Two Cities:
The Good: very recently it was very thoroughly renovated (reopened 2 months ago), it is 2-3 miles from the city center and thus is quiet, A/C worked great and was quiet, it has great views of the Columbia River, and it has a good selection of wines and treats to relax with while enjoying the views from the patio.
The Bad: it's 2-3 miles from downtown Astoria, those wines and treats are dreadfully overpriced (e.g., a wine priced 270% more than I can get it at the nearby Safeway?), it is really a renovated "motel" than a real "hotel".
Was it worth the price I paid? No. Still, it was the main summer travel season and I booked last minute – bad me. I gave it 4 stars as the plusses slightly outweighed the minusses.
I flew from Florida and drove 12 hours from southern Oregon with our son and Fiance for his birthday. Room was dirty when we arrived 4 hours past check in time so we had to wait around with our toddler after an already 12 hours in the car traveling there. There was a few things I requested mid stay, such as new bedding due to our toddler spilling something on one of the blankets, we left for the day and came back late and theyd never come to change them out even though they said they would. The wifi/tv was very spotty, didnt work half the 3 night stay, and the ice machine was broken and our shower wasn't draining properly. The staff are mostly friendly, the view is amazing, hot tub and sauna are wonderful but overall not the best experience and I wouldn't say it was necessarily worth the price we paid for it.
Beautiful view, nice accomodations / amenities and great staff !

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
We love the Crest - my adult kiddos stay there whenever they come to visit (we live a short distance away) and it's always clean, excellent service, super personable staff and ownership. The views are incredible!
This was a solid room—clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything you need for a pleasant stay. The view was great, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was basic but did the job. The shower was excellent, though the bed was a bit softer than my personal preference. You really can’t beat the location.
