Get away from the City without leaving town! This sweet little retreat overlooks an urban flower farm and chicken coop. The space makes up one side of a simple concrete duplex. Enjoy nature, fresh flowers (seasonal), eggs from our chickens, a good bed, coffee, and WiFi. Conveniently located 7 blocks to Grant Park, Atlanta Zoo, Eventide Brewery, and many Grant Park attractions. 1.5 miles from the Capitol & Georgia State; 2 miles to the Georgia Aquarium and the Beltline.
We provide a charming and modest space, a different experience than staying at a hotel. We strive to maintain a home that is eco-friendly and low impact. This goes in keeping with our vision for creating a sustainable, urban farm experience in the middle of the big city.
This is a true shotgun style home. There are no doors separating the living room, bedroom and kitchen. There is a bathroom door :)
In the living room, There is a pullout sofa that opens up to a full size bed, as well as a smaller foldout function. There is also a Queen size bed in the bedroom. The space can sleep 5.
We love pets, but this space will not work if your pup barks at every sound, is aggressive or disruptive. If noise ordinances are broken, there will be a $150 fee assessed.
We naturally treat for bugs, but this is the South and an urban farm. There is the occasional spider or bug.
Please note:
There are 1 A/C unit in the space, but it can still be a little warm on extremely hot and humid summer days.
We have a gas heater that keeps everything toasty in the winter.
The water heater holds 20 gallons. This is enough for a decent shower, but not a very long one.
Guests can use the driveway, tho the curb is not cut. The backyard, outdoor table and chairs are all available for use, and shared with the other side of the duplex. The steps up to the house are steep - it is easier to walk up the driveway.
I am available to answer questions, and help if issues arise. We will also leave directions for use of heat and a/c.
The Summerhill neighborhood of Atlanta was one of the city’s oldest African-American communities and was once a flourishing retail district with a diverse community. Famous entertainers and influential city leaders like former heavyweight champion boxer Evander Holyfield, singer Gladys Knight, and business mogul and philanthropist Herman Russell called Summerhill home.
It's worth taking a walk down Georgia Ave just to see all the murals, but the food options are also enticing! Check out Little Tart Bakeshop, Big Softie Ice Cream, Halfway Crooks Brewery, Hero Donuts, Little Bear, Hot Dog Pete's, Wood's Chapel BBQ, Junior's Pizza and Talat Market. We're only a few blocks to Grant Park, Beltline Trail, 2 miles to Centennial Olympic Park, Philips Arena, CNN, world of Coke, and Georgia Aquarium.
Uber and Lyft are readily available. Bus Line is 3 blocks away, and Marta Station 1.7 miles away.
Because this is a duplex, we ask that you please not be loud. Quiet hours are between 10pm and 8am.
We have a second side available as well, as well as a tiny house and Airstream Camper next door!
