A gem of a house on Lake Superior

This was an exceptional house! It has a great layout and was very comfortable for a group. The host was responsive and helpful. We especially loved the access to Lake Superior, quiet location and proximity to Houghton and Ontonagon. We would definitely book this house again and recommend it to others.

Keweenaw adventure

We had a lovely stay and time exploring the Keweenaw Peninsula. Close to Houghton for restaurants and necessities. The home is well stocked and very comfortable.

Keeweenaw Vacation

This was our second time staying here and we had a great time! The beach/water was perfect for the kids, they had a blast swimming and playing in the sand. Towards the end of the trip they enjoyed watching the waves made by the wind while the adults enjoyed the sunsets. The house is a great place to stay while enjoying the sites of the Keeweenaw. We lucked out and were visiting during the Mineral Days - our kids had a blast at the mineral show and rock swap. Would definitely stay again.

Sunset Drive review

The cabin was a perfect fit for our family and trip. It was perfectly situated to be about an hour away from our adventures in the Keweenaw Penisula and Copper Harbor and west to the Porcupine Mountains. Also, the beach was quiet and peaceful. The allowance of one dog also a great fit for us.

Fantastic location for our 30th anniversary

We had a fabulous stay for our anniversary. The house is beautiful. The location is perfect, far enough away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to stores if you need anything. Michael is a great host, very responsive, everything you need in a vacation home is provided, and the surprise gifts were a wonderful touch.

This is our second time staying at this property and we absolutely love it!!! The access the beach is amazing. The cabin is clean and cozy. We enjoyed dinners around the table and fires in the fireplace. The bedrooms are comfortable and the mud room is perfect for storing winter gear. The location is great for many local activities.

Beautiful lakefront home

My family visited this home for a long weekend getaway and we were not disappointed. Great location, private beach and beautiful home with everything we needed to unplug and recharge. Watched the waves and played games we found in the closet. Would definitely return.

BETTER THAN THE PICTURES

Michael is a great host. He made sure we had all the pertinent information about the property and area before we arrived. Our questions were answered promptly and fully. The property and beach were exactly as advertised. You could walk for miles on the beach in either direction. The few people we did run into turned out to be locals and were very friendly. In the house is a binder with full instructions about everything the house has to offer and instructions on how to use them. Plus the binder has info about the surrounding area and important phone numbers. Do yourself a favor and page through it the day you arrive. Phone and internet are a bit sketchy (as mentioned in his property description. WIFI is available.) at times but cable TV is fully functional with a huge selection to choose from.To sum it up we had a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend it.

Cozy Cabin with Breathtaking Views

We rented this property as our son graduated from MI Tech. It was a great spot for our family to enjoy one another. The property is located on a gorgeous westerly facing property on Lake Superior. It was out of the city, but a reasonable drive to Houghton / Hancock. The log cabin feel was cozy, unique and fun. The kitchen is nicely detailed with a spacious walk-in pantry. The beds were comfortable. Highly recommend!

Great house and property!

You will not be disappointed! This is a great cabin. We had everything we needed. We will be booking again and skip bringing things like beach towels, chairs and beach toys. It’s all there for you! I also recommend planning to spend at least one full day at the house, or two, exploring the beach. There is Redridge Steel Dam about 2 miles away that was fun to explore and splash around in the water with the kiddos.

Lake Superior Stunner

We loved our stay at this property while visiting our MTU student. It was close enough to enjoy campus Winter Carnival festivities and far enough away to be peaceful. The property was just as advertised. The beds were comfortable, the home was clean, and the views were amazing! We especially enjoyed our evening relaxing by the real fireplace. The home was beautifully decorated with every comfort in mind. No need to look further. This is the one!

First Class Stay in Copper Country

If you are looking for an elite beach vacation spot in Northern MI, this is it. The dwelling is extremely well appointed. My wife, who is an interior designer, signed off on it. And, that rarely happens. The location is ideal also. The property sits in a private subdivision with an expansive private beach. And, it’s a 15 minute drive to Houghton for groceries, souvenirs shopping or emergency smore supply runs. Important too, you are about an hour from copper harbor and several small historic towns in between. Would highly recommend for a family vacation.

Exceptional Lake Superior Lodging in Beautiful UP Location

This single story log cabin home was spacious, clean, and so relaxing. The pictures are wonderful but it is even better in person! Furniture is inviting and comfortable. Appliances and amenities are awesome. Things like a jetted soaking tub, large kitchen with all the equipment needed to make great meals, a well-stocked walk-in pantry, very reliable internet, TVs, ample dining and great room spaces, big laundry room, and large bedrooms with closets and fans, made it so easy to relax and enjoy. Cubbies hold beach towels, beach chairs for young and old, and beach toys. We wished we had children with us as they would have loved the toys and games. Camp chairs are provided that you can carry down the sandy gently sloping path to the beach, but there are 4 comfortable Adirondack chairs waiting at the black sandy beach. Lake Superior waves made it perfect to swim and float and the water was clear to hunt for stones with snorkels or wading. There is a large sandy ledge at the beach was easy for our 21 year old to climb and a good work out for those of us who were older. Sunsets were amazing! A fire circle was great to enjoy S’mores, with ingredients provided! Fun easy day trips to Calumet, Copper Harbor, mines, beaches, local baseball game, ruins, woods, & streams! Awesome place. Weekday construction next door and some 4-wheelers on the beach were the only distractions to an otherwise totally peaceful environment. We had no mosquitos or black flies! Perfect!!!!

Beautiful cabin/busy road

This cabin is clean and spacious, with attention to detail in décor and amenities. The kitchen is large, the living room comfortable. The host, Michael, was very responsive. Given the description, location and photos we had anticipated a private rural retreat, however the home is situated directly next to the road, with two of three bedrooms facing the road. We stayed 6 nights experiencing a significant amount of vehicle traffic outside the bedroom windows starting before 7 a.m. as well as some late night traffic. The surprisingly frequent number of vehicles passing by detracted from the solitude we were seeking, however, this may not be the norm, as we saw what seemed to be construction work in the neighborhood. The kitchen/dining area also has windows facing the road which, although providing a lovely view, detract from a sense of privacy as you are exposed to anyone passing by. The beach is close and a wonderful place to enjoy sunset. We had booked based on the photos showing a wide clearing in the trees from the house down to the beach, giving an open view to the beach and lake from the living room. At this time these views from the house have been significantly obscured by vegetation growth blocking most of the beach view and some of the lake view thus turning what had been a wide open space to the beach into a narrow path through the overgrowth.Although disappointed by the vehicles and obstructed views, overall this is a lovely home from which to explore the peninsula.

Our stay at the Atlantic Mine log home was incomparable. The home was very spacious and fully appointed with a breathtaking private beachfront. Could not have asked for more.

Excellent location with great communication!

We booked this place on a whim and were hoping for the best. We talked to the owner before we arrived and had great communication along the way. We were shocked when we arrived at the beautiful home and the beautiful beach. Well stocked with anything you might need and even the extras! We were surprised with a S’more making basket that we were excited to use during our nightly campfires on the beach. We really appreciated the chairs and a table on the beach. The sunsets were our favorite part! We appreciated being able to bring our dog who felt at home as soon as we arrived. The house was extremely clean and well maintained. We’ve already said we’d love to go back! We definitely hit the jackpot with this one!

Lake retreat

This was a lovely place to stay for our family vacation. The sunsets were amazing. The beach was relaxing with the fire pit and Adirondack chairs. The house itself was very clean and well-stocked for cooking our family meals. The king-size bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. There was no air conditioning, but there were fans stored in the closets to use. The house does sit close to the road, but it wasn’t a problem. The traffic was minimal. It is quiet and peaceful.

Perfect for family time

This home is truly exceptional! We had a fantastic stay for MTU graduation weekend. Plenty of room for 4 young adults, parents and grandma. We enjoyed the big kitchen, the cozy fireplace, the comfy beds and especially the view. Bonfires on the beach, sunsets and stargazing made this a 5 star experience!
