Trophy house is a very cool place for a guy or a couple. As a 65 yr old woman alone it was kinda spooky. It’s connected to a big house that was empty and above a sort of reception hall, also empty. Across the driveway/parking space is a half built structure that looks like it’s going to stay that way. The pool is (or was for me in mid June) murky, algae, old and not useable. Too bad because that was a selling point for me. There are no blinds on the bathroom or big main room windows which was pretty by day but creepy at night. The AC was fabulous. Great longhorn cattle nearby and views of woods and pasture. Great full kitchen. Great tv! Very cool animal mounts on the walls. It was easy to extend my stay a week and host always answered me. A scorpion ran across the main room floor. I trapped him and set him free but no bare feet after that. When I left there was a man cleaning the pool so maybe it’s repaired? For the right person it’s a great spot. Sheets, towels, pillows all a little threadbare but comfortable.
What I mean by the title is put curtains in the bathroom and the bedrooms. Also make sure that the Wi-Fi is working, give instructions on how to work the TV and even let us know how to work the shower even though I believe it didn’t work.

Trophy house Dilemma
The trophy house is beautiful. It smelled beautiful, but it wasn’t that clean. There were no directions to the surround sound TV downstairs. We came back to our rental the second night to find 20 or so young people partying, some swimming right outside this house. This went on till after 1am, maybe longer. We knew nothing of who these people were and they stayed overnight in the big house. (They were well behaved young people). There is also a hefty fee for cleaning. Sad since it wasn’t that clean at all upon arrival. In all fairness, we did not contact the owner of this property while we were there about these issues. I had contacted this owner prior about a question before we rented …response time to my Question was slow.
First we didn`t have the code to get into the Trophy House, but after a look into our email we found the codes, so that part was my fault, however we were not able to contact anyone for help, not by phone or in person.
When we entered the first thing we saw were RAT PELLETS everywhere,on the stairs, in the living room, in the kitchen, bathroom, on the beds, in the sink. It was absolutely disgusting.
The rest of the property was equally filthy.
When we reserved the Trophy House we were not informed that there were any stairs, as were are not young, that would never have been acceptable.
The pool had not been cleaned and would not have been suitable for anybody, and it had scum on the walls.
WE DID NOT stay there and had to find a hotel room several miles away.
The money has already been withdrawn from our account we want a full refund. I don' know if Expedia or VRBO will be the responsible for this, but I will be contacting them as well.
We have photos and will be sending them as well.
