Summary:
Wake to the sound of the sea and the scent of salt in the air, Aqua Sands by Stay Waiheke is just steps from Little Oneroa Beach, where mornings start barefoot and easy!
The Space:
Inside, the open-plan layout feels bright and welcoming. A comfortable king bed sits beside a small lounge area that opens to a covered patio where you can enjoy your morning coffee or unwind in the evening with a glass of wine. The kitchenette has all the essentials for simple meals, a small fridge, microwave, kettle, and toaster, just what you need for easy island living.
From here, everything’s close, the beach for a swim, the dairy for a flat white or fish & chips, and Oneroa village for dinner or a wander through the shops. Spend the afternoon at nearby vineyards or Heke Brewery, then head back for a quiet evening on the patio.
Evenings here are easy, sea breeze, soft light, maybe a glass of wine before heading inside. It’s all part of that relaxed Waiheke rhythm.

The Neighborhood:
Set along Oceanview Road, Aqua Sands by Stay Waiheke sits right across from Little Oneroa Beach, a golden pocket of sand loved by locals for its calm water and relaxed feel. Mornings start with the sound of the waves and a stroll across the road for a swim and a coffee from Little Oneroa Dairy, where you can also grab classic fish & chips for lunch on the beach, with feet in the sand.
From here, it’s an easy wander into Oneroa village for boutique shopping, cafés, and galleries. You’ll also find the Waiheke Island Community Cinema, a much-loved local spot where you can sink into big, comfy sofas with a glass of wine and watch a film like a true islander. When you’re ready to explore further, Mudbrick and Cable Bay vineyards are just a short drive away for wine tasting and long, scenic lunches overlooking the Ocean.
The studio’s gentle elevation above the beach catches the light and breeze, giving you that peaceful sense of being close to everything, yet quietly tucked away in your own seaside space.
Getting Around:
You’re right on the local bus route here, with stops close by for Oneroa, Onetangi, and the Matiatia Ferry Terminal. The buses also stop near many of the island’s top wineries, so it’s easy to spend the day tasting and exploring without needing a car.
You’ll often find yourself hopping on the bus, alongside others heading off to lunch among the vines. There’s parking at the property if you’re driving, or you can hire an e-bike to cruise between beaches and vineyards at your own pace. However you travel, every road comes with a view.
Other Things to Note:
The studio is set beneath the owners’ holiday home, with a private entrance and outdoor space that’s all yours. The kitchenette has the basics, a small fridge, microwave, plates, and cutlery, though with Oneroa’s cafés and restaurants just up the road, you’ll probably end up eating out more than in.
Evenings here are peaceful, the sound of the waves, the breeze through the trees, and that easy Waiheke calm.
