Limestone on the climb up the scar
The Norber erratics are the finest example of glacial erratic boulders in Britain. Huge lumps of gritstone have been deposited onto the limestone bedrock, many balanced on limestone plinths. The boulders were left by retreating glaciers at the end of the last Ice Age, 12,000 years ago.
