Imagine waking up as the first rays of sunshine stream through the charming little windows. Outside, all you see is lush greenery, and the day lies ahead with no plans or deadlines. Just you, your favourite people and a beautiful place to relax and unwind.

At the end of a quiet country lane, surrounded by orchards and the beautiful Franconian countryside, you'll find Ickelhaus 2, a listed half-timbered house dating back to 1829. A house full of history and character.

The former barn has been lovingly transformed into a charming 90 m² holiday apartment, combining historic character with modern comforts.

This isn't just somewhere to stay. It's a place to enjoy time together.

A room with a view – and plenty of cosy charm

The heart of the apartment is its spacious, open-plan living and dining area. The floor-to-ceiling panoramic window brings nature right into your home and offers beautiful views of the surrounding greenery. Numerous smaller windows provide ever-changing views of the countryside.

There's plenty of room to enjoy everything that makes a holiday special: cooking together, leisurely breakfasts, long board-game evenings, good conversations or simply relaxing on the comfortable sofas in front of the wood-burning stove after a day of exploring.

Underfloor heating keeps your feet warm, while the fireplace adds a wonderfully cosy atmosphere. And if you enjoy cooking, you're welcome to pick fresh herbs from our little herb garden.

Our tip: Leave a few hours completely unplanned. Fewo Lichtblick is the perfect place to do absolutely nothing!

Your own little garden retreat

Just outside the door, you'll find your own secluded garden – the perfect spot for sunbathing, reading, playing or simply enjoying the fresh air.

Two sun loungers, garden furniture, a parasol and a charcoal barbecue are provided. The adjoining traditional orchard adds an extra touch of rural charm.

Whether it's your first coffee of the day outdoors, a relaxed barbecue evening or a glass of wine under the open sky, sometimes these are the moments you'll remember most.

And the best part? Nature starts right outside your door.

Space for your favourite people

With 90 m² of living space, Fewo Lichtblick comfortably accommodates up to two adults, two children and one toddler.

Spacious open-plan living and dining area with underfloor heating and wood-burning stove

Two comfortable Mollinari sofas

Large dining table with seating for up to eight people

Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, ceramic hob, oven and Nespresso coffee machine with milk frother

First floor:

Main bedroom with a double bed (180 x 200 cm)

Children's bedroom with two single beds (90 x 200 cm each)

Modern bathroom with shower and WC

We've also thought of the little extras that make your stay comfortable: Wi-Fi, a Bluetooth radio and plenty of crockery, glasses and kitchen utensils.

Bed linen, bath towels, hand towels and kitchen towels are included. We also provide a small welcome supply of coffee, tea, mineral water, basic spices and other essentials to help you settle in.

At Ickelhaus 2, you can have the best of both worlds! Fewo Lichtblick can be connected to our second holiday apartment, AD1829, via an internal connecting hallway.

This allows you to enjoy both apartments together while still having separate living areas and private retreats. You can move easily between the two apartments whenever you like.

Perfect for two families travelling together, several generations or a holiday with friends!

Ickelheim is a wonderful base for exploring beautiful Franconia. But who says you have to go sightseeing every single day?

Right here in the village:

Within less than a five-minute walk, you'll find two traditional inns with beer gardens, a butcher's shop selling fresh bread rolls and a playground. Perfect for a relaxed start to the day or a cosy evening when you don't feel like cooking.

Just a few minutes away: Bad Windsheim

The charming spa town of Bad Windsheim has plenty to offer:

Franken-Therme with its extensive wellness and sauna facilities and unique saltwater lake

The Franconian Open-Air Museum, taking you on a fascinating journey into the past

A spacious spa park, perfect for relaxing walks

A graduation tower and Kneipp water-treading pool

A special highlight for 2027: Bad Windsheim will host the State Garden Show from late May until early October – another wonderful reason to visit!

For nature lovers and explorers:

Some of the most beautiful routes start practically on your doorstep. Enjoy leisurely walks through traditional orchards, hikes through forests and vineyards, or longer cycling tours along the well-developed network of cycle paths.

If you'd like to discover even more, the local tourist office offers guided walks, cycling tours, forest bathing, yoga sessions and interesting guided tours.

For families with little and big adventurers:

There's certainly no shortage of things to do! Swimming lakes, outdoor pools, a forest climbing park, playgrounds, go-karting, amusement parks, a zoo and the famous Playmobil FunPark offer plenty of fun and variety for all ages.

Fancy a day trip? The picturesque towns of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Dinkelsbühl, Ansbach, Nuremberg, Würzburg and Bamberg are all within approximately 25 to 60 minutes by car. Perfect for discovering Franconian charm, historic half-timbered houses, culture and regional cuisine.

A few things worth knowing

Ickelhaus 2 is a historic, listed half-timbered building. It has been lovingly modernised while retaining its original character. However, some features, such as door thresholds, stairs, stair railings, window and door fittings, may differ from modern standards and may present potential trip or safety hazards.

The apartment is located on the first floor and is accessed via a staircase. Please bear this in mind when planning your stay.

For stays during the colder months: The main bedroom has limited heating. We therefore recommend bringing warmer nightwear.

One cot for a toddler aged 0–3 years can be provided for an additional charge of €10 per night. Payment is in cash on arrival.

Pets are not permitted. Smoking is also prohibited inside the house.

You are welcome to store your own bicycles with us.

And one little request: Please bring your slippers. We believe they're the perfect way to feel at home from the very first moment!
