Nice stay for a family weekend. Property could have done with a deep clean, the baking trays/oven looks like its never been cleaned
Great base and served its purpose
Room was lovely, really comfortable bed and the softest fluffiest towels ive ever seen. Breakfast was great with plenty if choice, will definitely be staying again.
The hotel was absolutely wonderful! A perfect stop along our Cotswolds journey! The staff was super friendly when we checked in and was sure to let us know of timings for food and drinks! We had supper there which was a little above average. Perfect for an easy night. The patio out back was beautiful too!
The bed was SUPER comfortable which made for a great night sleep!

Disliked: Cleanliness
I found it to be very expensive so what I got
The room was not clean
The TV didn’t work
No WiFi connection
If it wasn’t for the lovely staff I would have complained and ask for some kind of refund.
The breakfast was very good
We had a brilliant stay here for four nights. The staff were very attentive, the food was great and our room was very clean and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble.
Lovely stay with friends and family
Welcoming and charming staff
Thankfully warm enough to enjoy the beer garden on Saturday evening with friends
Lovely full English breakfast Sunday morning
Good quality coffee, tea, hot chocolate in the room
Lovely welcoming staff. Great food and service. Room was clean and comfortable. Only mention would be the decor in our room was quite dark which made the room feel smaller than it was.
Excellent team who made us feel very welcome. Great dinner and breakfast (normally stressful for a dairy-free and gluten-free person). Excellent service, which was quick but not intrusive and very well informed. A lovely pub in a great location with a superb team working there. Thank you

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
I, unfortunately, wasn’t able to stay very long but, what I did see was very interesting as an ‘olde worlde’ British pub. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was generous and very tasty.
The one thing that was a disconcerting surprise was the fact that on Monday morning, I was suddenly informed that there was no food on Monday nights; this was in spite of two or three emails asking if I wanted to book a table for the evening meal for the two nights I was staying there.

Value for Money
Lovely pub, very friendly & helpful staff. Dined in the evening & had a lovely meal and a really good breakfast the next morning with lots of choices.
The bedroom was a little disappointing, it could do with a deep clean, lots of dust etc and no standing shower facility, which is a problem when you are 6ft 3” & the bathroom has sloping ceilings! Admittedly I understand not everyone is 6ft 3” so it’s not the pubs fault but something to bear in mind when booking.
On the whole a pleasant stay & certainly value for money given a fabulous breakfast is included.
Great staff & food and comfy bed but a few bits not ideal. Quite noisy. You have to be in the pub for the WiFi to connect before you can use it in your room. Didn’t realise there was no shower, only a bath. No hairdryer in the room. Overall good but a few easy improvements needed

I have stayed here on a few occasions and the main reason for coming back is the location. The walks roundabout are simply. beautiful. The hotel itself has some real pluses - it is quirky and full of character. But this does translate in some cases as shabby (threadbare carpet). The breakfast cooked to order is delicious. I love that they offer fresh milk of your choice and not those horrible sachets/pots of UHT milk - nice touch. However, there is not enough light in the rooms and at the moment there is no restaurant in the evening on Monday's and Tuesday's. But the communication is second to none and that is why, despite a few grumbles, I will go back.
I really wanted to love staying here and it all started so well. My room was one of the attic rooms - out of the way and tastefully decorated. However, apart from the bed being made up and clean towels provided I'm not convinced the room had been properly cleaned. There was no coffee and only the unloved mint tea on the tray. The sugar was down to two sad lumps. Only two of the lights had bulbs that worked. There was no remote for the TV. The heater in the bathroom wasn't working. All small things but collectively they just indicated neglect. To top it off, I had to wait over 20 minutes for a poached egg on toast for breakfast- which I didn't get to eat as I had to leave for work.It wouldn't take a lot to get this right up there with the best of the Butcombe propertes - but someone has to care.
