The place was amazing, very nice and warm people around.
The food could have been better, even though it looked tempting in the menu, the taste needed improvement.
Absolutely stunning on every front. Do yourself a favor and book it.
Lovely cozy rooms, incredible food, wonderful competent and friendly staff, gorgeous scenery, convenient parking and beautiful forest walks adjacent to hotel grounds.
It is a beautiful family owned and run hotel with friendly staff and an outstanding restaurant. The lake view rooms provide a beautiful view of both the lake and church. The rooms are comfortable s and clean. Gougane Barra is my family’s favorite place in Ireland.

Beautiful location, nice food and truthful staff. Hotel room was cold.
Lovely hotel, very clean, the staff were very friendly and efficient. The owner Niall has a word for everybody, and very knowledgeable about the area. the food was amazing and again service was excellent. even though they were very very busy. A boat was available if you wanted to go on the lake. Lastly the walks are amazing. we will definitely be back.
Beautiful views. Hotel with lots of character. Comfortable and clean with spacious rooms. Very rural and remote which suited us. Bar is traditional And cosy with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Breakfast included And whilst there was plenty of fruit, cereals and cakes available the cooked menu was extremely sparse....very Small portions... Which disappointed us
Everything about the hotel was wonderful. The staff were all so lovely. The food was great and were provided generous portion sizes.
The rooms provide everything that you need and you cannot better the view.
Highly recommend and would certainly return.
We had a lovely stay at Gougane Barra Hotel. Everyone working there was super helpful, friendly and attentive. Unfortunately we had only booked one night - but will definitely return - and hopefully soon!
This hotel is in an absolutely breathtaking area.It is a traditional family run hotel which prides itself in good old fashioned friendliness with guests becoming friends!

Set in beautiful surroundings, lovely friendly and helpful staff. Food is fabulous!
This is a truly special place nestled right on a lake with an abundance of hiking trails. The hotel also has a restaurant and the food is incredible. This would be a three-star property and the price reflects that it doesn't have the frills and updates of higher-end accommodations. I would recommend this charming hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful respite away from the hustle and bustle of cities.
Accueil chaleureux. Endroit superbe. Chambre lumineuse et confortable. Belle salle à manger, excellente cuisine. Personnel charmant. Calme et bucolique.
Gorgeous family run hotel at the edge of a forest park and right in front pf a lake. Very nice details in furbishing. Owner and manager and his staff were a in a chain driven fast world. Restaurant is exzellent, rooms comfy. Just a real gem and get away hideout.

Very satisfactory in every way..service,facilities ..comfort .would have no hesitation in a repeat visit and would recommend it to others.tom
From the first minute we arrived at the hotel everything was great. Julien greeted us at reception and couldn't do enough for us, from insisting on getting our bags to our room (a couple of times and in a nice manner), asking us did we have a dinner booking and then turning up in the bar to ask were we being served, and then providing a map of local walks - fab service.
The room was clean, cosy and comfortable with a great view of the lake. We noticed the toiletries were eco-friendly, were of superior quality and better than any hotel we had stayed in recently,
The restaurant was fantastic - great John the, Prawns and Scallops - what a dish, never mind my starter of prawns in parsley butter sauce and our other starter of 3-ways melon and sorbet. Fantastic all the way and the setting is beautiful too. Jane our waitress was very helpful and capable.
The bar in the hotel is ultra cosy and comfortable and Neil, the owner, was a very amicable attendant while respecting peoples privacy at the same time. One point is the hand-dryers in the bar toilets need updating.
We are already thinking of meeting friends there again as soon as we can - this unassuming hotel from the outside is a gem. Told all my work colleagues, who had all been to the area, but were unaware of the beauty of the hotel inside.
Apart from the hotel there are also beautiful walks within a couple of minutes, to a 6th century hermitage, a National Forest Park others - brilliant for a pre-dinner stroll.
