About this property
A-Frame Cabin with Long Range Mountain Views
Welcome To Sky Rock Lodge!
Sky Rock Lodge is a stunning A-Frame scribe-style log cabin built with round logs, surrounded by breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. With three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, up to ten guests can gather to enjoy this sensational cabin and all it offers, including a large seven-person hot tub under a covered gazebo, an outdoor fire pit, and an endless sky. This custom-built cabin is conveniently located in Banner Elk, close to activities and attractions, even though feeling tucked away and secluded in the mountains.
A short ten-minute drive will take guests into downtown Banner Elk where you will find shopping, convenience stations, grocery stores, and winery tours. Both Sugar Mountain Ski Resort and Beech Mountain Ski Resort are just over twenty minutes away. There is even a private neighborhood back road open to guests, which can get you to Beech Mountain in seven minutes when weather permits. The quaint Village of Valle Crucis, home of the original Mast General Store and beautiful riverside Community Park, is twenty minutes from the cabin. You can be in Boone or Blowing Rock in approximately forty minutes.
Step inside and enjoy sweeping panoramic views through the impressive wall of windows. Relax and enjoy the fine leather furniture around the stacked stone wood-burning fireplace and a flat-screen TV. Prepare your favorite vacation fare in the charming kitchen with updated stainless steel appliances, custom-made cabinets, and quartz countertops. While gathering to dine with friends and family, it will be impossible to ignore the backdrop of expansive mountains and sky. Cook out on the gas grill on the covered back porch, which wraps around the house, expanding the space to enjoy the scenery. Right off of the porch, guests will delight in nighttime stargazing and fires in the wood-burning fire pit with an oversized hot tub in the gazebo just beyond. Another custom built-in charcoal grill is also available in the open outdoor space.
The main floor king bedroom is warm and comfortable, has access to a covered portion of the porch, and has a private ensuite bathroom with a step-in shower and ceramic tile flooring. Upstairs includes a bunk room with two (2) twin-size log bunks and a TV for kids to relax and enjoy some downtime. The third bedroom, located upstairs, has a queen bed and bright natural light through the multiple windows within the logs. The upstairs bathrooms share a tile floor hallway bathroom with a tub and shower combo. The living room sleeper sofa provides an additional queen size sleeping space.
Amenities at Sky Rock Lodge include central heat and air conditioning, a washer and dryer, WiFi, a BluRay/DVD player, and two (2) flat-screen Smart TVs, which guests can use to log into their streaming accounts for various watching options.
There is some deferred maintenance of the driveway gravel. Please prepare for the steep gravel roads leading to the cabin and a steep driveway with a sharp cut-back. 4WD or AWD and chains are required for winter driving. The gravel driveway levels out to an ample flat gravel parking area with plenty of room for four (4) vehicles. Pets are not allowed at this cabin.

Communication was excellent. The house was as explained and expected. The last road to the driveway was interesting, and the driveway was not the easiest to navigate. They recommended four-wheel drive. We had four-wheel drive and all-wheel drive and still struggled. So we just walked up to the cabin. It wasn’t a big ordeal because you are on a dead-end street. Overall, we would select to stay here again.
Absolutely gorgeous views and secluded. Although it doesnt mention 4 wheel drive, it wouldn't hurt to be on the safe side with the unexpected rain/snow (drive way has a decent incline with a switchback).
Had an amazing long weekend at the Sky Rock lodge. Very private, bright, clean and well appointed newer log house. Breathtaking views and beautiful sunrises as the house faces east. Very quiet and also had a few sightings of local wildlife. Four deer were grazing one evening while we had dinner inside. Banner Elk is close by and has good restaurants and grocery stores. We would definitely come back.
We enjoyed our stay very much! We had a group of 9 and all slept comfortably (with one teen on the couch). The cabin is as described in the listing - we enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit as well as the gorgeous views. The drive way is gravel, curvy and steep. There was some snow/ice when we arrived so it was challenging getting parked but it melted over the next few days. You definitely need snow chains and/or four-wheel drive in the winter when staying at this property.
