Hyatt Vacation Club at Hacienda del Mar, Dorado

"We loved this resort and plan to return in the future. Dorado is lovely and quiet. There are many convenient businesses and delicious restaurants nearby. This resort has a cozy feel. The staff was warm, friendly and helpful. The resort truly ensures the comfort of their guests, providing helpful and thoughtful supplies. Every need has been considered. The service was excellent. The staff is very knowledgeable about food in the area. The room was nicely decorated, comfortable, and well stocked. The resort is beautiful, the vegetation is lush and the grounds are well maintained, the beach is clean and it feels secluded. The pools and hot tubs were clean and welcoming. There’s a shallow children’s pool. There’s also life jackets for the children to be able to swim with their parents as a family in the larger, deeper pool. There’s more than adequate seating areas throughout. The activities and games were great. We had so much fun. We enjoyed seeing wild horses grazing on the surrounding property, as well as iguanas sunning themselves near the pool, crabs climbing on the rocks, and sea birds diving into the waves. The relaxing sounds of the ocean, and the coquis at night. The sunset at the beach is very memorable. Loved the food and drink at the Mahi Mahi Grill. They had very nice mango piña coladas. We recommend the fresh seafood! I had the Ensalada de pulpo with Tostones."

"The room needs an upgrade. Smells like old dust. The hotel amenities were great, from the pool to the beach. Also, they have several restaurant options, bowling, and go-karts. Overall, very nice, but rooms need to be upgraded; they look very old"

"What a hidden gem! We loved our stay here. The entire property was clean and well maintained with some lovely historical features (like the tiles!). The small courtyard and pool were refreshing after a day out and there are lots of birds and lizards around too! We saw (and heard) many parakeets while in the courtyard. Staff were very kind and helpful. There is a good grocery down the street (Puebla) with anything you could need. We will definitely be back when we are in the area again! I should note that the beds are VERY soft and may not be comfortable for those who prefer a firm mattress."
