Family vacation

I was blown away by how awesome it was. From the beautiful area to the fan favorite pingpong table we had a blast!! We would 100 percent stay at The Shire again! The hosts are amazing people and very friendly!! Everything was in driving distance which was great. My family had a blast feeding the fish and making s'mores by the campfire.

Was a very nice place to stay with a nice pond and bon fire. Communication was great and they let us drop our cars off before check in time so we could start our day.

We dashed over to Michigan for a girls wine tasting sleep over. We enjoyed our stay at The Shire. The host was extremely accommodating. The Shire had every amenity that we desired and more...we will be back soon!

Great getaway spot!

This was our second stay at The Shire! What a great getaway spot! Beautiful property...it is a wonderful little oasis in itself! So much to do without even leaving the property! We loved it, and are already planning a return trip!

Anniversary/Fall Getaway

The Shire is absolutely Lovely! Pictures do not do it justice, it’s even more beautiful in person!! The hosts are wonderful and so accommodating! Every detail is top notch, the beds are fabulous and so comfortable we all slept so good! Visited wineries and breweries and ate some great food too and of course had to see the beautiful Lake Michigan and went to Silver beach. We had an amazing stay here and will definitely be back!

Fun Michigan getaway

Girls trip to the beach

We enjoyed our stay at The Shire. The property is a beautiful and peaceful place to hang out. Coffee on the patio and walking to the vineyard was cool. We enjoyed beach views, shopping in St. Joes, silver beach pizza! A day at silver beach and playing games back at the house! Perfect getaway!!!

Little Piece of Middle-Earth

We loved the house we were able to stay in. Our kids had a great time with all the games around the property (basketball, ping-pong, bocce ball, and others. They really liked being able to explore the small pond and feed the fish. Loved the small town feel of the area and being able to get away for a while. We wish we would've been able to stay longer! Thanks!

Short and Sweet Retreat

Beautiful Property! Was clean. Mike answered all of our questions in a timely manner. After wine tasting at a few local wineries, we sat by the pond and were able to walk through a path that lead through the cornfields as well as grape vines! Kitchen was outfitted perfectly with seasoning for grilling. We would love to visit again in the near future!

The R& R Bacation

The Shire was by far the greatest experience so Far. Everything all in one place, restaurants, shopping, wineries. The house is perfectly clean And we’ll appointed. Great care of this property and everything at your fingertips! The owners were very pleasant and accommodating. Would go back here and give it a five star! Worth every penny.

Just as described

I have stayed lots of places that dont live up to their descriptions. But this place is great and just as described in listing. Lots of natural light and windows, which I loved. Normally we are in a hurry to get to the beach in the morning, but we just sat and drank coffee/ate breakfast staring at the fields in the distance lol. It is a nice change of pace from city/daily life. We even decided to have a picnic lunch near the pond instead of taking it to the beach. We have reservations again in July and are excited to come back. Thanks again!

clean, comfortable, plenty of space

We came to the Shire for a little post Christmas getaway with just our family of four, looking to relax and hang out after the busy holiday season. The house was super clean, with space to spread out. We thought the memory foam beds were kind of uncomfortable, but not enough to really bother us. The house is on beautiful land, which I'd love to return to in warmer months. We also liked being a little bit out in the country, but still close to food, restaurants, and things to do. Our older daughter was super sick in the days leading up to our trip, and Mike and Lisa were able to accommodate pushing our rental back a day, for a reasonable fee, since it wasn't booked after our reservation. That was a huge relief! Then, of course, our other daughter spiked a fever right after we arrived. Kids and their germs, huh?! We were SO thankful to be staying in this comfortable spot, where we could just snuggle up and relax with her. And when the ibuprofen kicked in and she felt ok, we explored Grand Mere Park and Warren Dunes, which are both so beautiful. Now we both agree we need to go back, hopefully in warmer weather and with healthy kids!!

Fourth of July

We stayed Friday through Sunday. It was comfortable, very nice, well stocked, beautiful property and great location. Peaceful country location and yet close to lake Michigan and many restaurants and stores within a few miles. Beautiful fire pit area next to the pond that has string lights. Just a very relaxing, comfortable, well maintained and truly nice place!!!

Cozy quick vacation

Came for a 2 night stay with my wife and 2 toddlers. I like how secluded it was. Very clean and a lot of amenities that were useful to parents. Only down side was the tub drain didn’t stay down so we couldn’t give kids a bath so we settled for very quick screaming showers, but that’s no big deal. I would recommend a kid friendly toilet seat for the future!
