It would be ideal to have a rental car, as public transportation in Basse-Terre will provide only limited service. The hosts were very welcoming and met my needs during the stay. I asked for extra documentation for consulting materials in a local library, and they were willing to help me. They have a small but well-equipped kitchen, and you can use a little Jacuzzi...
