"We arrived early on an international flight and left our luggage in their holding room. When we came back to check in there was literally so much luggage in the room we couldn’t even find our luggage. We then went to our room only to find we had been given a key to a room that was already occupied. We went back down to reception where they were very apologetic and immediately gave us a different room. With that said once we got to our room we were very happy with our stay. The hotel has a great location and is good value for money."

"We had a great 2-night stay at the Volkshotel. The staff were always pleasant and very helpful. The ground-floor cafe was nice and very convenient. (Good to know: When we were there, on weekends, the hotel restaurant and cafe only opened for breakfast at 8 a.m. It seems to be an Amsterdam thing as nothing close by was open either.) Because we were heading out on an excursion, we found a place open for coffee closer to our excursion meeting point. I also liked the location of the hotel. It is in an interesting neighbourhood and within easy reach of the metro. When I made our booking I was a little concerned that we would be older than the usual clientele, but I needn’t have worried. The hotel staff make sure all feel welcome. And bonus! We were offered a free upgrade from a cabin to a room with a bathroom. Very nice!"

"Overall really worth for the money! Location is amazing just a 2 min free ferry from central station. While the rooms were really compact and the washroom with the shower gets wet as there’s no seperation between shower area and rest of the washroom - overall property is pretty good as per the price. Location is great, staff is helpful, lots of common spaces to sit and chat, also a bar and 24x7 cafe - so overall pretty good experience."
